I have strong thick thick donor hair and am at a Norwood 3 stage where temples are high and thinning on top. I have been estimated from 2,500 - 3,000 grafts before a personal consultation. I was wondering how many procedures down the line as I more than likely to lose more hair in my life? I have heard some people get 2 -3 fue procedures ?
Answer: FUE There is no particular limit on the number of actual separate FUE procedures you can have, rather the number of grafts that can be harvested. The average Caucasian donor area contains about 4000-6000 grafts.Above average donors can have up to 8000 or more grafts. It is very important to make sure that the grafts are taken from within the "safe donor zone" and that the area is not over harvested so that it appears thinned out.

Answer: If you are losing hair and want treatment options, it is best to see a doctor for a proper examination and diagnosis. If you are losing hair and want treatment options, it is best to see a doctor for a proper examination and diagnosis. You can't think about how many surgeries you many need if you haven't even had one surgery.

Answer: FUE Sessions Most donor areas from the posterior and lateral scalp can support 4000-5000 hairs. So you could have 2-3 sessions as you spoke about. It is important to harvest hairs evenly across the donor site so that you do not create thin patches.

Answer: Grafts from the safe zone The number of procedures is an irrelevant number as it is the number of useable grafts extracted from the safe zone that is important. Within the safe zone the density of your native hair dictates how many grafts may be removed without looking overharvested. On average 4000 to 6000 grafts may be removed before the donor zone looks too thinned out.

Answer: Depends on Several Factors Number of grafts depends on several factors. Typically for Norwood Stage 3 it is around 1500-1800 grafts. It's usually a good idea to be conservative with your hairline- the more conservative you are, the less grafts you'll require and the more donor grafts you'll have available in the future. This also depends on your age, family history of hair loss, width of your forehead, and your desired look. Norwood Stage 3 I am generally very conservative because at this point it is only a snapshot of your lifelong hair loss pattern- 3000 grafts seems like too much so early on.
