I’m one of the unlucky ones to suffer from male patterned baldness. Before I had my procedure with Dr. Mohebi, I was experiencing really bad thinning at the front and had lost hair at the temples. After the initial consultation with Dr. Mohebi, I felt that he was someone who I could trust and had my best interests at heart (I never felt any salesman-like vibe). So I eventually had an FUE transplant done with Dr. Mohebi and his staff, using 1509 hair grafts to fix my front and corners. The procedure was smooth and mostly pain free (my local anesthesia began to wear off near the end and I could feel some slight pain). For the next few months, I experienced the typical “side effects” of a transplant procedure: really itchy scalp, hair shedding in the first few weeks after the procedure, and the occasional pimple on the scalp. It wasn’t until around Months 5 to 6 I really noticed improvement in hair growth and density. As of this writing, it’s been 8 months since my procedure and I’ve been very happy with the outcome! Without a doubt, I would highly recommend Dr. Mohebi for anyone who needs help with their hair restoration.
I've waited 8 months to write this review, and the reason for waiting was I wanted to see results before posting. My procedure was done in May 2019 and as of today I could not be happier. I filled in the front and crown. Now I actually have hair where there was a bald spot on my crown. Dr. Mohebi delivered exactly what was promised. The procedure itself was very easy and Dr. Mohebi is amazing. The office staff is also very accommodating, specially Niki. I have sent a couple friends to this office already and would definitely recommend you check them out.
From consultation, to surgery, to check-up, Dr. Mohebi and his staff have been the best. They care to create the best experience possible. It's a long day and takes quite a few months to see the results come in, but the results are better than you can expect. There's nothing to hide anymore and it's your real hair you're dealing with. If you're thinking about it, then it's time to actually do it. It's well worth it.
I'll avoid the color-by-numbers technical detailing of my surgery, and make this review a bit more accessible to guys who are concerned about a receding hairline and maximizing their happiness in life, as I was when I found this website one year ago. My surgery with Dr. Mohebi is easily one of the best investments in myself I've ever made, and my dating life has never been better. Here's how it went down. I researched hair restoration for several years before deciding to move forward with a transplant. After reading hundreds of reviews here on RS, I set up a consultation with Dr. Mohebi. He is friendly, funny, knowledgeable, and immediately puts you at ease. FUE was of course the most expensive option (he recommended 2200 grafts totaling around $17,000... fewer if I didn't want the temples done), but after weighing the pros and cons versus FUT and other options I felt the higher cost was justified (plus I didn't want the FUT strip scar). Dr. Mohebi offered a discounted option if his associate doctor performed the surgery instead of himself, though I ultimately decided I wasn't going compromise the next 10-40 years of my hairline (and theoretical benefits that would come with it) to save a few thousand dollars. You can apply your consultation fee to the cost of the procedure without expiration date, so I waited until I had the money and then scheduled my appointment. This was my first surgery ever in life, so I was a bit nervous approaching the date. However, I was even more tired of watching my hairline recede further, which made me increasingly self-conscious. I'm 43 and unmarried, and I have no interest in watching my dating life decline as I age. I'd been combing my hair forward for years, but was always extra uptight in windy settings or when swimming. The day of the surgery arrived, I drove myself and left my car in the lot, had a friend pick me up and drive me home after. The total surgery time was about 9 hours. The medical staff is friendly and plays music or movies while you're getting loopy on whatever they give you. There is some pain at the beginning, mostly when they put numbing needles all around your head. After that it's mostly loud noises and thumping sensations. There are plenty of other procedural reviews on here so I'm not going to outline the full surgery. To the best I could estimate, you get stabbed in the head about 3x the number of grafts (so 6600 for me), because there is the follicle extraction, the hole punch in the donor area, and the replant punch. That's pretty much the whole day, 8 hours of just getting stabbed in the head, no real pain after the first hour, and the numbing needles are tolerable, about the same as the dentist. Because of whatever medications they give you, there really (surprisingly) is very little pain, even after such an intense procedure. Don't get me wrong, your head is sore as hell, and there is a delicate 7-day period where you have to gently wash your scalp with a special sponge and shampoo, etc. However, holy moly, I was not prepared for the amount of itching. I mean for like 3 months after the surgery I had ungodly amounts of itching in my scalp. Not pain, just itching. Prepare for this, take some ZzzQuil or something to knock yourself out through the night. YOU WILL ITCH LIKE NEVER BEFORE. Since my head was newly shaved, which I've never done, I bought a few loose caps that I could wear throughout recovery and booked a trip overseas so I could heal and regrow my hair in private. Fast forward to today, it's been 8 months since my surgery, and I couldn't be happier. It looks perfectly realistic because A) it's my own hair, and B) Dr. Mohebi artistically plants the hair in a natural pattern. I literally don't even think about my hair, kind of like when I was 20 and didn't think about my hair. Even better in fact because now I know if I lose it again, there exists a solution. God bless modern technology. If you are in your 40s or 50s and dating younger women who have dated men of this age, then listen up: The NUMBER ONE thing women say to me once we get intimate is: "Wow I am so happy you have hair, most men I meet are losing their hair," usually while grabbing my hair or running their fingers through it. They absolutely love it. I'm now looking forward to a life that will be enjoyable well into old age by simply staying in shape and keeping a relatively youthful appearance, certainly younger than my peers. Women don't want to date men who look like they are falling apart or aging badly, despite whatever popular culture or television will try to convince you. Looks matter, especially in the social media era. For me, dating has never been better, not at 16, not at 25, not at 35. I am truly enjoying my life like never before, and Dr. Mohebi's incredible work is a huge part of that. I can't recommend him highly enough, and I would most certainly go back for a return visit if I ever wanted more work done. A++
Very pleased with my results. Dr. Mohebi was very thorough & detailed with information (initial researching) and later in the consultation. Bottom line: Everything Dr. Mohebi said about the procedure, the timing, the progress and the finished product came true. No surprises! Glad of that. Did a lot of research before I pulled the trigger on any doctor of this type. In the end, I chose Dr. Mohebi for his prior patient (results/reviews) and his detailed and thorough approach. Check out my before & afters. Happy. Updated on 22 Sep 2018: Left out the timeline: Had the transplant procedure in January 2018. Obviously, the rehab was like any cut to the skin...some pain, some oozing, but every symptom that occurred was known and explained thoroughly prior to. Took about 3 days to feel fairly OK and about 2 weeks to feel normal. Head was obviously really sensitive to the touch for that time. Have to wear cap or hat for 1st 9 months out in sunshine. Did so. No hair until around 8 month, then wife noticed fine hair growth. By end of 9th month, hair looked really full, grown in and good! As I said, everything told to me by the doctor and staff came true. My skepticism turned to relief and I am very pleased in the outcome. Worth doing for me.
Ive been consulted at many hair transplant clinics and there are certain tips you should know to understand if that doctor is going to deliver what you deserve, 1) Are they up to date with technology and have their own patented and specific method of transplants? or have they been doing it the same way they have the past 5 to 7 years? Does the doctor have any research focus or not? Example; Today, the only advanced method being done is FUE with no scars after head shave, where they used to cut the skin since preserving all follicles wasn't possible before! 2) Is everything in that clinc governed and operated by one doctor which brings the soul value of how it should be done? Or is it a money generating franchise with many doctors that is just good in giving deal packages? 3) Does your doctor consult you how many hair follicles, which direction, and what focused area in the bold spots should be transplanted more to have a better potential in the overall fullness? Or is it a simple pick and place? 4) Are you consulted to understand how many surgeries you might need to meet your expectations, and how many follicles are done per surgery to reach that? Hint: each surgery room has an overhead fixed cost in clinics that comes directly out of the patiens pockets, make sure you are getting enough follicles transplanted in a shorter time period that is safe and convenient. Dear readers, I was in the wrong room too until a friend of mine suggested Dr. Mohebi, and I understood what I really want is what I deserve. Dr. Mohebi is a well respected and educated man and takes pride in what he does, please go along to many places with these 4 hints and you shall see Dr. Mohebi is raising the bar in hair restoration every year. You cannot go wrong if you have chosen hair transplant as an option for boldness.
Dr. Mohebi did an excellent job explaining what to expect. He didn't over promise like some other surgeons do, but gave me a very realistic expectation of how my procedure would go. I had about 2000 FUE grafts placed in the frontal portion of my hair line as my hairline and front was balding. The results were excellent, but I will be needing some touch up to make it look near perfect. We did layer shaving to the donor area so I wouldn't have to shave my head, but had I gone back in time I would definitely shave my head so they can remove the grafts evenly without leaving any patterns. I spoke to Dr. Mohebi about it and like the professional he is he said he would take care of it when I have my 2nd procedure to make it more even. I highly recommend Dr. Mohebi and will be going back to him for my 2nd procedure.
I am 100% satisfied with my experience with Dr. Mohebi. If you are concerned at all about your hair loss do not hesitate to go see him. I wavered back and forth on whether or not to have this procedure done and even cancelled my first appointment. Now that I am 8 months out from my transplant all I can say is I should've done it sooner. It's a no-brainer. Go see Dr. Mohebi, he's one of the best.
I started looking for an FUE Surgeon more than a year before I my procedure, I spoke to some Doctors that I am sure to be great professionals but for me I am looking for personality first, Dr. Parsa Mohebi have both, He is a true professional and gentleman, besides the fact that he has a massive reputation that lets you feel relaxed knowing that you are entrusting your head to his hands but his friendly approach and humanity is not a trivial thing for doctors at his level. On December 2017, I came to Dr. Parsa Mohebi from very far way, actually I had a 16 hours flight from Israel to Los Angeles especially for my FUE procedure. I had 1700 Grafts procedure, and the transplanted area was my front line area. It was one of the best things I did in my life, Speaking to Dr. Parsa Mohebi. gave me a lot of hope, in addition to what I read about him after I saw lots of testimonials on the work he does from his patient. I am so happy with my decision on contacting Dr. Mohebi and having the hair transplant by him. I loved the process all the way from the first appointment and every step until the last appointment that we did to wash the hair the day after the procedure. Everything went smoothly and easily more than I expected, with almost no pain in the procedure. I was shocked how easy it was and how fast did it go, It was an enjoyable process. The stuff was amazing, they are very professional, they have a great energy and it makes you feel very comfortable and relaxed during the transplant, I had a great time with them. It was so great and easy, no doubt I will do it again in next year. I recommend Dr. Parsa Mohebi for anyone out there who is looking for a true professional Doctor. I felt compelled to write a review because of the procedure I just went through with Dr. Mohebi in his office in Encino. I just received over 4,000 grafts (4050 grafts to be accurate), and I must say, what a pleasant experience it was. Since it was a two day session, you have to be in the office by 7:00 AM both days since the procedure takes a good 8-10 hours total. The first day they performed around 2500 grafts and the second day they performed around 1550 grafts. To give a high level summary, they first take pictures of you, then you go into the operating room and wear one of those hospital gowns. Then administer some anesthia as well as some swelling medicine since your head will swell up during and after the procedure. Then they start to perform the work, keep in mind I went with the FUE (follicular unit extraction), which is very very labor intensive since they extract each follicile one by one. They first go about extracting all the follicular units from the back of the head one by one. This was probably the worst part since you face is laying on the cushion, so theres a ton of pressure that goes on your face for a good 1-2 hours. The pain was bearable but definitely uncomfortable. other than that, there really wasn't any pain from the procedure. After they extract all the follicular units, they start making inciscions into your scalp and then start placing each of the FU one by one. Doctor mohebi creates a master plan and decides the right strategy of where to place the hair follicles. Also your follicles have single hair, double hairs, or triple hairs for each follicle, so there is a certain strategy that must be done to get the best results. Dr. Mohebi is essentially the master planner and the overseer and performs some of the work, there is also an good army of "technicians" who also perform a large amount of the labor intensive work. I must say, the experience was very pleasant, and Dr. Mohebi and his staff were very respectiful, courteous, and very nice and friendly. I only have the best things to say about their professionalism. In terms of results, I will post pictures when the time comes. I just finished my second day of surgery so I am in the resting phase (it takes about 4 days for the implants to firmly attach), and then about 14 days when the hair goes into the "Resting Phase" and they fall out. Then it takes about 6-12 months to start to see the results. I'll try to keep this post updated with pictures as time goes on. Thank you again Dr. Mohebi and to his wonderful staff!EDIT 09/10/17: It has been 9 months since my procedure and the results have turned out amazing. I have posted my before and my "current" pictures in the photo section of this page. The results turned out great. It was a little scary at first when I didn't see much progress at 6 months, but if you do your research, you will read that the results start to "pop up" between 6-9 months, which it has done for me. If you have any questions, feel free to PM, I would gladly answer any questions about this procedure. I already have a follow up procedure booked for this December, I plan to do another 2,000 grafts, which should help with my crown area. Thanks!
Hair transplant is a successful procedure to frame your face. With the new techniques in hair restoration, you can not only bring the forehead down, but to create a feminine hairline that goes well with the rest of your facial features. You need to see a hair transplant specialist to review the type of hair transplant you can receive to achieve your goals.
Overharvesting is a relative term. In many patients we want to harvest very aggressively to lower the density of a very think donor area. Others may not need or tolerate as much. As I have published (FUE for total evenness), as long as the evenness is there the donor looks reasonable. If harvesting is limited to only one band with keeping the neighboring areas intact our eyes starts seeing pattern. That is the effect of a sharp decline in density. To prevent that the edges of the donor should be tapered and featured as we remove grafts. In your situation that you see this after one procedure, you can see improvement if you need future hair transplant as long as hair is taken diffusely from the other (non-previously harvested) areas of donor zone.
You have a fix number of permanent hair and it does not really change whether you use FUE or FUT. It is better to discuss this with your doctor and plan for your next procedure together.
Shaving is always optional (at least in my office). We have a variety of different procedures that allow us get by without shaving. Recipient shaving is up to you and most people after the first procedure and when they have a hairline don't want to shave any more. Even donor shaving is optional now. We can either do layer trimming or Celebrity FUE in which hair grafts are removed one at a time without the need to shave.cosmetictown.com/journal/hair/Celebrity_NonShaven_FUE_Hair_Transplant
It is hard to see the color of the skin. It would be helpful to post the photo that shows larger area of scalp or the photos before the surgery. I am sure the doctor who have performed the procedure has it. You need to be seen in person and may need other tests to determine the cause of your condition.
