Most of the time when you read effusive reviews online, you start to wonder if they are inflated in some way. I want to share my experience that Dr. Sean is truly is who his reviews say he is. I came to Dr. Sean as a black woman with very coily hair with a mixed picture of CCCA scarring alopecia and what was diagnosed as traction alopecia, something other doctors had not been able to help. I was missing much of my front hairline. I had been on years of oral, topical and injected medications without improvement, and I was discouraged, knowing that I was I was an uncommon, case, especially as many times scarring alopecia is not transplantable. From the minute I met Dr. Sean I felt hope that even if he could not transplant me, he was going to do his very best to help me, as a dermatologist and as a person. His manner is very sincere, kind and honest. He is truly an empath. Dr. Sean went above and beyond, requesting biopsies from years prior across state lines, reviewing them with multiple dermatopathologists and colleagues around the world, and coming up with my first accurate diagnosis: a mixed picture of androgenic and scarring alopecia. The androgenic component might possibly be able to be transplanted, although he was very upfront with me about risks and benefits. My transplant procedure was a tough case but ended up going great. His staff made me feel wonderfully cared for. One year later my transplanted front hairline has given me new confidence I never thought possible. Dr. Sean eats, sleeps and breathes hair transplant. He is among the very best in his field. He is very well versed in transplanting ethnic hair, something the majority of transplant surgeons have less expertise in. Not only that, but he travels to and speaks at international conferences, keeping up with the latest in transplant technology. Alopecia is a difficult diagnosis, but in our culture, women, especially black women, are affected in a unique way because hair is such an important part of our expression of not only our femininity but also our culture. When I went to Dr. Behnam I felt that, win or lose, he was going to do his utmost to help me, and that alone was worth everything. Long after the procedure he checks up on me and is invested in my best possible outcome. If I could rate him 10 stars I could. Don’t bother seeing anyone else in LA (I tried) - go with Dr. Behnam.
One week ago, on May 15th, I had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Sean Behnam for a hair transplant procedure, and the entire experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I walked through the door, everything was smooth and relaxing. Any hesitation or nerves I had were quickly dispelled thanks to the impeccable bedside care of Dr. Behnam and his team. The full-day procedure exceeded every expectation I had. Dr. Behnam’s expertise and the genuine care from his team made all the difference. The follow-up care and consistent check-ins have been incredibly reassuring, ensuring that I’m following all post-op directions correctly. A full week after my procedure, Dr. Behnam is still following up with me daily and answering my questions along the way. After years of researching various doctors in New York and Istanbul, I am so glad I chose Dr. Behnam. His reputation is well-deserved. For anyone unsure about taking this step, just go see Dr. Behnam. He will put you at ease without pressuring you to make an immediate decision. Unlike other doctors who tried hard to sell me on the spot, Dr. Behnam's consult felt genuine and pressure-free. A standout aspect is that Dr. Behnam only performs one procedure a day, unlike many other doctors who handle multiple cases daily. This personalized attention truly sets him apart. I highly recommend Dr. Behnam and his team for anyone considering this procedure. You won’t find better care and expertise elsewhere.
Dr Sean Behnam will go to the ends of the earth for you. He literally will text you day or night, weekday or weekend, from his cell phone and makes sure you are satisfied and answers all your questions. Even after the procedure he is always available. 4 years after my procedure I had some questions and advice needed and even though there was nothing else in it for him he still continued spending a lot of time to text me. He genuinely cares about his customers and he will never leave you hanging. Never been so impressed with a doctor as Dr sean behnam. He is so friendly and it's no wonder that he was voted top hair doctor in the US in some publications I saw a few years ago. I trust his skills and his words 100%. He guarantees his work and makes sure you are happy.
I did a lot of research and had a several consultations before I booked this procedure and it was clear from the start that Dr Sean was the one I wanted to go with. First of all, he is very kind and has an excellent bedside manner. Secondly, he's an actual doctor. With a lot of the other places I consulted with, it was hard to find actual medical credentials from these guys. Dr. Sean took time to explain his background, how the procedure actually works, and his exact process and how it differs from the rest. Another glaring thing was that he actually recommended far fewer grafts than the others. Meaning, the other places were just trying to charge me as much as they could rather than what I actually needed. A lot of the other places were fancier and flashier and I started to feel like it was a smokescreen. None of that stuff matters. I went with the guy I trusted and the guy who was the most qualified. The procedure was as good as a surgery could possibly be. He was constantly checking in on me to make sure I was comfortable and it moved along efficiently. Even though I was there for quite a few hours, it didn't feel that way. He also had six assistants working alongside him - an entire team dedicated to me. Everyone was very attentive. I've never felt so taken care of in a medical setting before. Dr. Sean took documented the entire procedure - photos and videos before, during and after, and talked during the videos, explaining everything along the way. He sent them all to me so I could go back and see everything after the fact. After the procedure, they made sure I was feeling ok before I was sent home and sent me with meds and other supplies along with instructions for post op. Dr. Sean then texted and FaceTimed me every day for the next several days to make sure I was doing ok. The fact that I had his number and could text him with questions was pretty amazing. He was always available if I needed anything. After the first week, we continued to check in every other week and asked for photos. I've honestly never met a doctor who was kinder or cared more about his craft and the wellbeing of his patients than Dr. Sean. I could not recommend him more. It's been 4 months now and the hairs are starting to grow in. I am a very happy customer.
I waited almost 2 years to write this review, to make sure I was entirely happy with the results, and I can now say that I had a great experience. After Dr. Sean was recommended to me by my dermatologist, I did a fair amount of research – reading his other reviews, learning what questions to ask, etc. I'm not an expert, but I have learned a fair amount about hair transplants, and I believe that Dr. Sean did a great job with each step in the process. Before I write up the details of the procedure, I should start by saying that Dr. Sean was a great person to work with. He is kind and thoughtful and smart and good at his job. He is very reassuring and I was always happy to see him or talk to him on the phone. (He gives out his home phone number so you can reach out to him anytime.) Here are specific details about my hair transplant (FUE) procedure: I was given instructions for things to do before the procedure, which I followed pretty carefully. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Sean and his team took care of the rest. We started pretty early in the morning. They gave me a couple pills (something like Valium and Xanax) which kept me relaxed for the procedure. They kept the treated areas numb (with Novacaine or similar) during the procedure – starting on the back of my head where they removed hair follicles, and then a couple late hours later on the front of my head, where they implanted the follicles. At one point during the implanting, I was feeling a little tender even with the Novocaine, so they gave me some nitrous oxide (laughing gas). They kept me stuffed with carbohydrates throughout the day. (Your body burns a lot of carbs during a procedure like this.) They had Netflix and a couple other movie channels available for me to watch during the follicle implanting. The net effect was that for the entire morning and part of the afternoon, I was in a pleasantly dopey state, eating a bunch of tasty food, and watching a couple movies. I was given detailed post-op instructions as well, which I followed pretty carefully -- when to rinse certain areas, apply medicine, etc. Both before and after the procedure, Dr. Sean has been incredibly available. He gives out his home phone number, and would respond to questions I texted him, even during the evening/night or on weekends. I feel very comfortable recommending Dr. Sean and his work.
Had the best experience. Dr. Sean is amazing at what he does. He’s very hands on, and available from beginning to end and after that. The results are incredible. I recommend him highly. If you’re on the fence, don’t hesitate. Do it!
Absolutely perfect work. Dr. Sean's team was amazing, and the process was incredibly efficient and professional. Beyond that, my hair looks AWESOME. So much so that my barber asked for Dr. Sean's information so he could recommend Dr. Sean to his clients who were interested in getting a hair transplant.
I can’t say enough good things about my experience with Dr. Sean and his team. From the consultation, throughout the procedure, and during the recovery, Dr. Sean has been readily available, supportive, and accommodating, with a wealth of shared knowledge, as he is an innovative expert/artist in his field. Dr. Sean’s staff have been wonderful as well, warm and professional they were on top of everything throughout the process. During the procedure I felt like Dr. Sean and his team gave me the VIP treatment, informing me on every step of the work, while providing a wide variety of snacks, streaming shows, music, and a delicious lunch. The combination of sedatives took away my anxiety and the laughing gas was a real hoot. Thank you for a smooth and amazing experience. I highly recommend Dr. Sean and his team.
Great doctor! Very knowledgeable! Excellent patient care skills! Dr. Behnam is very easy to reach out to whenever you have a question. He explained everything to me before the procedure, and what to expect before and after the transplant.
From reception, physician assistant and Dr. Behnam, everyone was professional and courteous. Everything was explained and disclosed as to procedure to be done, costs and after procedure care. I truly had an A+ experience and felt very care for as a person. Looking forward to my next visit!
it all depends on your goal. combo transplant and SMP is the best. SMP by itself may not look at natural.
Yes- you are the perfect candidate for an eyebrow transplant, the shape is already there so a transplant would simply need to follow along that shape.
The scar tissue would need to be looked at more closely but yours doesn't look too severe so a transplant would probably work- definitely something to see a doctor in person about!
Yes- either option would work. FUT is generally cheaper & easier, it does leave a scar on the back of the head but unless you plan on getting very short hair it will never be noticeable. It would be a fairly small transplant if you just want to fill in the gaps and not lower the hairline.
The hairline would work well but for females FUE is not necessary unless you plan on having short hair in the future- Strip transplant works just as well, is cheaper & easier, and the scar will be hidden by long hair.
