On the 2nd post surgery I decided to clean off some of the dried blood that had clogged up inside my nose with a qtip and hydrogen peroxide and some saline solution.Next thing I know blood is coming out of my right nostril. It has now switched to my left nostril and hasn't stopped. I went to the er (they basically said not to mess with it anymore so blood can finally clog up again) and I called my plastic surgeon which he advised to put a cold rag on my neck and forehead. What Else can I do?

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. It is very normal to have some bleeding several days after rhinoplasty. However, if you are bleeding enough to go to the ER, your surgeon should see you immediately. Also, the skin of tip needs to be evaluated by your surgeon. I recommend that you return to see your surgeon, as he/she will have a good idea of what to expect in regards to your specific progress, since they can evaluate you in relation to your preoperative appearance.Best wishes and good luck.Richard G. Answer: Bleeding after rhinoplasty Your surgeon is the one to call, and when you do, be very specific about exactly what has transpired.Do not go to the ER unless you have heavy bleeding AND are unable to reach your surgeon. He or she has a commitment to you to care for any and every issue related to your surgery. Speaking as a rhinoplasty surgeon, I want to hear from my patient with ANY question or concern in the immediate post operative period.Wishing you the best for a successful recovery.
