Is it possible to get liposuction without lidocaine?

However, the procedure will have to be performed under general anesthesia. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which numbs the tissues during the surgery as well as after the surgery. If you are concerned about lidocaine, the procedure can be performed without lidocaine. The surgery will need some form of anesthesia. You will need general anesthesia if you are not using lidocaine in the local anesthetic. In addition, your post operative requirements for pain medication will be higher than average because of the lack of lidocaine in the fluid. I'm curious as to what you are afraid of regarding lidocaine?? Almost ALL present day liposuctions use tumescent fluid which contains: salt water, lidocaine (to reduce pain) and epinephrine (to reduce bleeding).

Lidocaine is almost always used for liposuction. With the procedure is done using anything less than general anesthesia the patient will need to be anesthetized with local anesthesia and lidocaine is the best drug for that. Even when general anesthesia is used plastic surgeons usually inject tumescent fluid before doing liposuction which contains two drugs, lidocaine and Epinephrine.
It’s possible that tumescent solution could be made without lidocaine.
