Can you get a breast lift with implants with nipple piercings?

It is possible to get a breast lift and implants with nipple piercings. However, it would be safer if you remove your metal piercings during your surgery to reduce the risk of burns. I always remove piercings in the field of surgery so the area can be completely sterilized. It’s always a good idea to wait until you’ve reached your stable goal weight before getting a lift, since weight loss after surgery can negatively affect your results.

The nipple piercings can be removed prior to surgery and replaced post-operatively.  The prudent thing to do would be to loose the weight before the BL with implants.  Otherwise, your breasts may not match the rest of your anatomy and may be smaller and droopier than you desire.

Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs or told us your bra size.  If you are large and require weight loss, your breasts will sag and you may have enough volume for a breast lift without implants.  Implants are not lifetime devices and half are removed by 9.5 years.  An alternative would be a lift and fat transfers.  The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method.  This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage.  The weight of the breast is transferred to the underlying pectoralis major muscle resulting in pain relief and long term stability.  Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained.  At the same time or later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Thank you for your question. It is necessary to remove the piercing during the surgery. In fact you have to take off all your metal objects before entering the OR. You can put the piercings back in after the surgery. 
Furthermore, it’s recommedable to finish weight loss and to be stable with your weight for 4-6 months before the surgery.

You will likely need to remove them for the surgery as the metal can be conductive and burn your skin when we use the Bovi during the operation. We recommend our patients remove them completely pre-operatively, or use plastic spacers in place of the metal hardware if necessary.

Generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a breast lift, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery. You can be a candidate for a surgery even if you have nipple piercings. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. You can still have breast surgery with nipple piercings, although some facilities will want them removed for the actual procedure (I do this myself after my patient is asleep and replace them before they awaken)Congrats on your weight loss, and yes, you want to be at a stable goal weight before any kind of plastic surgery. In my practice I have the patient remove the piercings in the pre op area.  After the surgery is complete, and there are no problems with blood flow to the nipple, I will sterilize the jewelry and replace it for the patient. I also recommend the patient to be at or within 15 pounds of their goal weight.  A healthy and stable weight gives you the best and long lasting cosmetic outcome!  Good luck!

It is advisable to be at your ideal weight prior to any surgical procedure. Unfortunately without an exam and/or photos it is not possible to give you a more better recommendation. You will be able to keep your piercings after the procedure, however, the piercings should be removed during the procedure and placed back only after clearance from your surgeon.

Thank you for your question and congratulations on your weight loss so far. It is best to lose all of your weight prior to surgery for the best results. You would also want to have your nipple piercings out on the day of surgery but you could have them re-inserted after you are healed from your surgery.
