For many new moms, pregnancy can leave behind lasting impressions on the body that range from loose abdominal skin to fat deposits and sagging breasts. A mommy makeover is a popular treatment at my Atlanta, Georgia practice, although in most cases it is not one single operation but multiple procedures done together to address all areas of the body affected by pregnancy that diet and exercise alone cannot help. Typically those consist of a tummy tuck, liposuction, breast augmentation, and a breast lift. Because the abdomen and breasts are the areas most affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding, those tend to be the areas I focus on. Just as not every patient is the same, not every mommy makeover is the same. That's why I work with each patient to develop a protocol that is unique to her body and ultimate goal.

I specialize in breast augmentation, a popular surgical procedure to increase breast volume and shape via silicone or saline breast implants. Whether a patient is looking to increase the volume of naturally small breasts for a more proportional appearance, or to replace lost volume and shape due to weight loss or breastfeeding, patients come to me to help them achieve their desired breast size for a natural look that enhances their body’s own contours. There are many options available when it comes to breast implants, from the size and kind of the implant to the position and shape. At my Atlanta practice, my job is to guide my patients through the decision-making process and help them understand which ones will be the best fit for their body and aesthetic goal.

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, is when an incision is made above the pubis (pubic region) within the underwear line to remove excess skin and fat from the abdomen. In addition, tightening of the abdominal muscles by plication or imbrication (folding or overlapping) is performed. The skin and underlying fat are released from the abdomen and the excess tissue is removed and discarded. Dr. Deutsch can also perform a mini abdominoplasty, which does not include releasing the umbilicus (belly button). A good candidate for tummy tuck surgery only has excess skin and fat below the belly button. Liposuction of the flanks is often combined with both the mini and the full abdominoplasty.
