There is no reason why someone with lupus cannot get botox or fillers, I suggest treatmend when the disease is not active. Best, Dr. Emer.
Thank you for your question. Patients with lupus are still candidates for botox and fillers. Be sure to inform your injector of your full medical history.
Lupus is not a contraindication to having Botox or fillers injected as long as it is under control. Do not let anyone inject filler into an active lupus lesion. Also, be sure to tell your injector your medical history as well as any medications you are taking so that appropriate precautions can be taken before treatment. Always see a board-certified dermatologist for any Botox or filler injections.
Thanks for your question! There is no absolute contraindication to having these treatments when you are properly managing your auto-immune condition. Do your research and be sure to work with a well trained and experienced physician who understands your medical condition.
Thanks for your question. Lupus is a tough disease that can affect your skin and joints, among other things. If it's under control, it's not a contraindication for these treatments. If you're on anti-inflammatories, you can have an increased chance of bruising but that's about it as long as standard precautions are followed. Good luck!
Autoimmune diseases are not contraindications for these procedures; however, some of the medications and some of the complications from the diseases may make a difference so check with your doctor
In general, it is fine to do these non-invasive cosmetic treatments in patients with auto-immune conditions. There is a theoretically higher risk of infections if a patient is taking immunosuppressive medication but with adequate precautions this risk is low. You could check with your rheumatologist or other physician to get clearance beforehand. The safest filler would likely be an HA filler such as Juvederm or Restylane since these fillers can be dissolved or reversed with hyaluronidase if necessary.Regards,Dr. Ort
Thank you for your question.SLE patients can have Botox and dermal fillers and it is safe.BestDr Karamanoukian#RealSelf100
I have many patients with autoimmune disorders that get botox and have never had a problem. It's natural to worry about possible side effects but the positive side is that it could make you look and feel better. You deserve that and best of luck!
Theoretically, having an autoimmune condition can increase the risk of infections. However, I believe this risk is quite small and can be reduced with adequate cleansing of the face prior to injection. As with all patients, injections through an area of skin inflammation should be avoided. Personally I have never had a problem using Botox or filler's in a patient who has lupus.
It is best to avoid treatment with botox immediately prior to any surgery forehead or eyelid surgery so as not to adversely effect the results of surgery. Elevation of the brows or change in appearance could mask your real issues and lead to an less than satisfactory result.

Botox can help underarm odor or bromohydrosis. The injections are usually performed every 6 months and may be covered by some insurance plans. Another option that has longer lasting results and may be of use if the Miradry procedure which destroys the sweat glands with microwaves.
If you are unhappy please speak to your physician and there are many options to get improvement. If the botox is causing you a problem, this cannot be reversed and will take 2-3 months to resolve. Id like to see office before and after photos. Best, Dr. Emer.
