Botox injections into the neck can create a lifting effect and reduce the banding created by the platysma muscles. It should have no effect on the thyroid gland. The biggest risk of this procedure is causing difficulty swallowing if large doses are used or if injections are carried out too deeply.
Botox in the neck can work very well for that vertical banding. It is not injected into the thyroid but rather the muscle so it will not affect your thyroid or it's function.Good Luck!Dr. Shah
Thank you for your question. Botox, when injected for the proper indication should have no effect on the thyroid gland.Benjamin J. Cousins MDBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Thank you for your question.Botox is injected into the neck, presumably for muscle spasms, or wrinkles (?) rarely It will not affect thyroid function or activity as in Grave's or Hashimoto's disease or other thyroid disorders. Dr Karamanoukian#RealSelf100 Member
It doesn't affect your thyroid what so ever. I use it for the platysmal bands. It is not great for the horizontal neck lines and I don't recommend it for that.
Botox for treatment of platysmal bands is a superficial injection and would have absolutely no effect on thyroid function.
Botox into the neck bands would have no effect on your swallowing. Obviously you want the needle to avoid a thyroid goiter if you have a large one.
Botox injections for the neck help improve the appearance of neck banding and Botox along the jawline helps lift this area. The Botox injections are placed within the skin - see a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon to ensure this. If placed within the skin, there is no effect on the thyroid. Hope you get the results you are seeking!
Hello Cinzia1,Botox should have no effect on your thyroid activity. When used for neck bands the risk is problems swallowing. You should let your injector know about your Graves' Disease, but it should not be an issue. The only concern is that if you also have a goiter which is large and the thyroid itself was hit with a needle. This could stimulate the release of thyroid hormone from the needle, not the Botox. This would be a very rare scenario. I hope this helps and good luck.
When undergoing a new procedure, it's important to ask about potential side effects or interactions of treatments and medications. Medications for your heart condition are particularly important because of problems associated with stopping them abruptly. Blood thinners like aspirin, plavix, ...
Botox can stop sweating under the arms for approximately 4 to 6 months. This decrease in sweating will also help reduce the odor. Please consult an expert for this procedure. Best, Dr. Green
This result is most likely due to the Botox in the lower face. This is an advanced Botox technique and now will take several months to dissipate. Fillers such as Restylane Lyft work much better in this area. Best, Dr. Green
