I'm now 8 months post BA. I had 300cc high profile implants placed under the muscle. There is a large gap between my breast, I would like to know if a larger implant would fill this gap?

Breast implants are not living tissue and they descend by the forces of gravity as well as pectoralis major muscle contraction such as your case. The pectoralis major muscle extruded your implants inferiorly and laterally and will continue to do so over time. Attempts to plicate this with lateral and inferior sutures will usually fail over time. An alternative to consider would be fat transfer medially to camouflage the hollow created by the implants deflecting inferiorly and laterally.

Since you are only 8 months following your primary augmentation, the wide gap between your beasts may continue to improve. Talk with your surgeon. Some surgical options for correction include: 1) addition pectoral muscle insertion release, 2) switch to a larger (or wider) implant, 3) relocation of the implant to a more subglandular or subfacial plane in the medial breast poles. Some patients have success in modifying their breast shape with selective bras or straps. Most importantly, know that corrective options are available, and your best source for information is your plastic surgeon. Good Luck!!

Hello, thank you for your question. Increasing the amount of cleavage that you have can easily be done with breast implants. You don't have to get super large ones, just increasing the upper pole fullness of your breasts with a moderate size implants would most likely work well. I recommend you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon.

It is possible to correct current breast implant position and, to a certain degree, correct the distance between breast. This will require releasing breast capsule and muscle insertion (without removing all muscle attachments) towards midline and closing lateral (towards armpit) extension of breast capsule. Based on current recommendations, both implants should be replaced (since they will have to be taken out temporarily), to achieve this type of adjustment. Hope this helps.

many women seek improved cleavage. Narrowing the cleavage plane can be done very carefully by a skilled surgeon. Moving the implants too far medially can result in synmastia or unaboob which is very difficult to correct. That being said, the right amount of pocket dissection and implant selection can create excellent cleavage. Breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery.Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size.While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.

In order to correct the placement of your implants, the pocket needs to be revised. This would involve securing the gold underneath the breast and possibly making the pocket smaller on the side. The muscle position may also need adjustment. You may or may not also need a larger (wider) implant.
The revision is a bit more complex that exchanging the implant alone, because the underlying problem is the pocket design and muscle position.

Hello and thank you for your question. One thing we make known to our patients is that an implant alone is not a "fix all." If your distance is already wide between your breast an implant alone will not necessarily fix this issue. There are however different profiles of implants that have larger diameters that can make the breasts appear wider without having to use a larger implant. That is something you may want to discuss with your surgeon when speaking about an implant exchange. Good luck to you!

While a larger implant may help, you might also consider a wider implant.  The downside is that it will also give you more "side boob" or volume that goes beyond the chest wall.  Because of your nipple position, just moving the implant more to the center could make the nipples look too far apart.

The gab you are currently seeing can be corrected by closing the lateral breast implant envelope and having a greater dissection in the inner segments without the need to chance your current volume of implant. However if you want larger Implants it can be perfectly achieved.
