I have had an operation about a year and a half ago. I now have a little over hang and was wondering, do I qualify for a tummy tuck? I hate the appearance of my stomach and am very insecure about showing my body.
Answer: Overhang after GYN surgery Often after gynecologic surgery, there is an overhang over the incision. There is almost always a solution. For most women, this is a mini tummy tuck, if the problem is confined to only the area of the incision. For problems of the entire abdomen indlucing extra skin and loose fascia, a full tummy tuck or a Hybrid tummy tuck (R) may give better results. However, it is appropriate to consider a mini tuck rather than just a "scar revision", which tends not to address the problem fully.

Answer: Full or mini Tissue that hangs from your mid-section may be removed with a tummy tuck, although whether it is a full or mini depends on the extent of correction involved. Photos would be helpful.

Answer: Can a Tummy Tuck Help with Overhang After an Operation? Thank you for your question regarding whether a tummy tuck is the right procedure to address your overhang after a previous operation. Based on your description, it sounds like the excess skin or "overhang" could be a result of skin laxity or weakened abdominal muscles following your surgery. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is designed to address exactly these kinds of concerns. A tummy tuck could help by: Removing excess skin and fat: If you have loose skin hanging over your abdomen, the procedure will remove that skin and give you a flatter, smoother appearance. Tightening abdominal muscles: If your previous operation weakened your abdominal muscles, the tummy tuck can also tighten them, improving both the function and appearance of your midsection. By examining your photos and considering your history, you seem like a good candidate for a tummy tuck if the overhang is significant and affects your confidence. It’s also important to be at or near your goal weight before surgery to ensure the best results. I recommend consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon to evaluate your situation and see if you qualify for a tummy tuck. They will be able to give you a personalized treatment plan and determine if this procedure is right for you. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Tummy tuck for excess abdominal skin Hi Jaime1977 - It sounds like you may either need a full tummy tuck or a mini-tummy tuck, but it's hard to determine this without seeing you. A tummy tuck will remove the excess skin and fat below the umbilicus and tighten the abdominal wall musculature. Check out some before and after photos to see if a tummy tuck will accomplish what you desire. Good luck!

Answer: What to do about lower abdominal overhang after surgery? Hi there- It is very common to develop a bit of an overhang of tissue after surgery in the lower abdominal area. The scar in the skin tethers to the scar in the deeper layers, and everything above the area then hangs over this fixed point... So what's a person to do? The answer will depend on several things... 1. Your goals- if you simply want to diminish the overhang, a smaller procedure may be possible 2. The composition of the overhanging tissues and the quality of your skin in the area- liposuction with a small skin excision may be possible, or it may, in fact, be in your best interests to pursue a tummy tuck after all. First think carefully about how much improvement you would like to achieve, then find a surgeon you like and feel you can trust and discuss your options with them. Answer: Often a mini-tummy tuck for overhanging skin As the other answers point out, without an exam or at lest a photo it isn't possible to comment on your specific situation. However, if your abdominal skin tone was good before the surgery but you now have a little bit of overhang, a mini might be the best way to go. Often what happens with surgery is that the skin adheres down to the muscle layer which contributes to the overhang. Plastic surgeons would make sure that there is a layer of fat tissue so that wouldn't happen.
