Thank you for posting. Obviously, a proper in person examination would be needed to confirm and review your best options. However, based on your description and the limited view of your picture. Typically, a clitoral hood procedure would be performed to minimize and reduce the side of your clitoral hood and improve symmetry. Thus type of procedure is usually done under local anesthesia. Please do your research and pick someone you not only feel comfortable with but has extensive experience performing hood reductions.
You’re in good company with many other females. Anatomy of the vulva, labia and clitoral hood are often not completely even. In your case, the left side is significantly larger than the right side and could indeed benefit from a unilateral (i.e. one-sided) left clitoral hoodectomy whereby the excess redundant tissue is removed in an effort to best match the right side. As many other surgeons have stated here, this is not a procedure for an novice so make sure your chosen surgeon is reputable labiaplasty specialist. Glad to help
Dear Mumblesalot123,Thank you for writing in with your excellent question and for sharing your photo. To answer your question: One-sided or unilateral hood enlargement can be reduced with a one-sided or unilateral hood reduction without affecting clitoral sensation or position if done by experienced hands. From your picture, you do have one side of your hood that is prominent and that can be reduced. If you have any other concerns, either aesthetically or comfort-wise, you have not expressed that and we can't see more of your anatomy to make other recommendations.I recommend an evaluation by at least one experienced cosmetic-plastic gynecologist to assess your symptoms and anatomy prior to committing to surgery. To read more about clitoral hood reduction, please visit the link below.I hope this information is helpful.Sincerely,Troy R. Without more photos from different angles with the labia spread completely, it's impossible to tell if you have any issues behind (posterior) to the hood. If the rest is normal, the hood can be reduced by removing excess skin from the left side in parallel to the clitoris. This is an expert level procedure.
Hi mumblesalot123This is a delicate surgery. Dr. Chang is experienced and sensitive to the needs of his patients. His aim is to help patients feel confidant in themselves again. Our conservative clitoroplasty procedure partially reduces the excess clitoral foreskin to give a more attractive appearance while improving sexual satisfaction. Hello mumblesalot123,The best approach would have been to reduce your clitoral hood at the time of the Labiaplasty. Why this wasn't performed or recommended is incomprehensible. It's difficult to tell from this one photo but you may have redundant hood on the other side as well as asymmetric labia minora.I recommend you consult with an experienced cosmetic vaginal surgeon to plan your next surgery.Best of luck,Oscar A. Aguirre, MD, FPMRSUrogynecologist & Cosmetic Vaginal SurgeonDenver, CO - USA
HI mumbles, I agree with some of the other docs that you do not have enough photos of what is under the left sided clitoral hypertrophy. In any case, you should see an MD in you area who done a lot of these procedures for an in person exam. You could also send more pictures of what is under the enlarged labia minora on the left.Best,Dr. Christine Rodgers
As the inventor and innovator of the wedge technique in 1994, I reconstruct many women who have had labia and clitoral hood reductions by other surgeons, both wedge and trimming techniques. The reconstruction technique depends on the deformity. Usually, a large one-sided clitoral hood enlargement is associated with a large labium. Even though you stated that your labia were corrected, you may need some revision of the left labium to match. The left side of the hood can be reduced alone, but it take finesse to make everything match. More photos would be very helpful to evaluate you. You only get one good chance to reconstruct you, so be patient and ask a lot of questions.Gary J. Alter, M.D. Beverly Hills, CA - Manhattan, NYC
You only presented one photograph so it is difficult to give you an informed recommendation. Based on what is shown I would recommend removal of a portion of the clitoral hood on the left side to improve the symmetry. Consult a qualified experience surgeon for a informed exam.
Thank you for sharing your excellent question. You could pursue a unilateral clitoral hood/ lateral prepuce reduction to improve upon any underlying asymmetry. Hope this helps.
The perineoplasty revision can be performed once adequate exam is completed to find out what the cause of the pain might be. Generally, surgical revision is successful by correction of the "hollow" or any irregularity/asymmetry. With regards to the clitoral hood, first the hood can be re...
I cannot tell if your clitoris is enlarged or your clitoral hood is just too bulky and long. I need to see photos pulling up on your clitoral hood showing the head of your clitoris. You also need to mention if your clitoris sticks out a lot further on arousal. If you just have extra tissue on...
It's not your clitoris, the skin tissue around the clitoris (clitoral hood) and your inner lips are large. there is no reason for this. Some women look like this.
