Filler duaration is affected by many factors: area, filler used (brand, technology, rheology), deph of injection, tecnique and instrinsic factors. There are many factors that can stimulate a greater rate of degradation of HA fillers, and that includes your own matebolism and other factors such as excersise. As you may know already, it also depends on the brand and reticulation of HA, viscosity and area where is injected. The facial mimic and mobility of the area, such as in the lips, also contributes to reduce the duration of the fillers. Now, I have seen cases of lower than expected duration, and in some cases, patients are to increase filler duration in the area after subsequent sessions. But I haven't seen in my practice such high rate of degradation. But even in such a case, I must point out that 8 ml in 3 months period, is too much. I usually treat with 1 ml a month, that will give time for remodeling of the area and swelling to completely dissapear an tissues to heal and adapt. Tecta is not the cause (is antacid, a medication to reduce the prodcution of Hydrochloric acid in the stomach, it does not affect HA).I would suggest, after checking your medical history thorougly, to consider a change of brand and therefore, technology of HA, such as Restylane (NASHA are not my favorite for this area, but I would consider as you have used Define before), Belotero, Aliaxin or Theosyal. Calcium based fillers (such as Radiesse) are not indicated for the lips, as it produces bumps and irregularities.
Hello! We can make your face more balanced with the use of fillers in certain areas , with or without other injectables. A proper evaluation must be done. The use of Crisalix simulation software for both evaluation of a 3D image submitted by yourself, for both evaluation and treatment plan, might be of help. It can be done via virtual consultation.
Collagen filler alone lasts about 3-4 months. It was being used combined with PMMA for longer and more natural results. But permanent fillers like PMMA have more risks than semi permanent ones, are non dissolvable and even if you don't have any adverse events, you will age with them where it was previously injected, making in an unnatural aging aspect of the area. These are the reasons why is not popular anymore and not widely available in most countries. On the other hand, resorbable fillers like hyaluronic acid are more widely used because of a longer lasting results (usually 9-12 months) and its natural results. Also, considered as a semi-permanent fillers, like Calcium Hydroxylapatite, is also widely used. It will add volume and stimulate your own collagen, and results lasts about 15 months, same as polycaprolactone. All of these fillers are temporary, fully resorbable, and subsequently, a more safe options than PMMA based fillers. Finally, there are also injectable collagen stimulators, that will add none or little volume, like polylactic acid.Your provider will choose the best product depending on many factors, including your goals and area of injection.
