Dr. James Malouf is by far the best dentist in Brisbane I have experienced. I am normally afraid of any dentistry work due to previous experiences I've had but Dr. Malouf's team made me feel at ease the moment I walked into their practice. I had a dental clean and checkup and was very impressed with the dental hygienist who was quite thorough in cleaning my teeth. There was a little bit of discomfort but she communicated with me all along so that I knew in advance what to expect. In the end, I now have completely sparkling teeth. I do have a few teeth that are misaligned so I am going to have an initial consultation with Dr. James Malouf regarding some cosmetic dentistry options. I've seen his Instagram page with many before and after photos and I am very impressed with his work. Finding a great dentist that is affordable is like finding a needle in a haystack. So grateful!
Dental Veneers can be a great option to restore chipped or decayed teeth. Composite veneers might be a suitable short-term option or you could consider porcelain veneers as a better long-term option. However before veneers could be placed, the underlying teeth should be as healthy as possible. I would certainly advise against pulling your teeth out wherever possible, this option should be reserved as a last resort.
It is possible to correct crooked teeth with porcelain veneers. However if the degree of crowding is severe enough, there may be a need to straighten the teeth first through orthodontic treatment before undergoing porcelain veneers. A large number of my patients undergo orthodontic treatment prior to placement of the porcelain or dental veneers. This doesn’t necessarily mean braces for 2 years - we can often achieve the desired amount of movement through a relatively short course of Invisalign treatment for example. When the teeth are better aligned to begin with, it allows placement of the porcelain veneers without aggressive tooth reduction. It also results in a better aesthetic outcome, as the dental veneers will all be a similar thickness, shape and size.
Hi Bama, great question. I always advise my patients to take their aligners out to drink (other than water). The issue with leaving aligners in whilst drinking is that the liquid pools in the aligners, and then the sugar is left sitting on the teeth for long periods of time which can definitely cause cavities to form.
Yes, with proper planning by the Doctor and the appropriate use of aligners by the patient, it is definitely possible for Invisalign to correct both overbite and overjet. I have successfully corrected both of these using Invisalign.
Hi Julia, this is quite a common tale. It sounds as though there has been a bit of wear and tear and now the edges of your front teeth are chipped and uneven. I would not recommend filing them down as this would only shorten them further. I think direct (bonded) composite veneers / additions would be the most affordable and conservative treatment option. This is perfectly safe and doesn’t require any tooth reduction, unlike porcelain crowns or veneers.
