Gender Reassignment Surgery Now Covered for Maryland State Employees

The new policy follows a legal challenge from a University of Maryland School of Medicine employee who was denied coverage for a transition-related mastectomy, according to reports. It was announced in an interview with Jer Welter, managing attorney at Free State Legal aired on "WBAL Radio" that "Maryland will now cover procedures and other transition-related health care of its transgender state employees under a new policy the Free State Legal Project
