Is an anesthetist rather than an anesthesiologist just as safe?

The surgeon I have had a consultation with uses an anesthetist rather than an anesthesiologist. Should this be a red flag? Or, is there really a great difference in skill? Thank you

I used to work in a surgery center that used CRNA's (Anesthetists). I would definitely say that they are competent. It takes years for them to complete their training and they know their stuff. No worries. I will have my anesthesia administered by a CRNA when I have my TT in a few days and I am completely confident in her abilities.
