Labiaplasty (7.5 months post op) - is a minor revision needed? (Photos)

Hi, I agree with Dr. Oppenheimer’s post! For all my surgical patients, I also do complimentary revisions if needed. They are rare. But if the patient is not satisfied, then I’m not satisfied. Your results are pretty good and over the course of the year it may continue to improve. But I see the “flap” on the one side that is bothering you. And sometimes things can heal like that based on swelling etc. If it’s bothering you talk to your surgeon again. If she feels uncomfortable doing the revision, then you may want to seek out another surgeon. Good luck!

In general, healing is completed by 3 to 6 months, so any minor revisions after this time are normal and relatively common. We surgeons, too, are always seeking optimal outcomes. So these minor revisions are common and usually simple to repair. These small areas that you’re describing are very easy to repair and are usually done without sutures.

Based off your photos - there is always going to be asymmetry between top and bottom, left and right - so chasing that little bit that you pointed out could result in more scarring that might not heal as well as you did the first time. Being that you are 7 months post op - there's still more time for it to atrophy some as you heal in the next few years likely more, and then as you age - more atrophy will happen. I would agree with your surgeon, results look great, no need to add any potential mishaps to it and accept the minor detail of excess on that one side. (I do the same in my practice, very rarely revise for symmetry or tiny bits that could lead to other issues.)

Thanks for your post. Congratulations on your nice results, but if you feel your main concern of having to tuck your labia persists then its understandable that you would want further improvement.
I feel that your labia can be made symmetric and more aesthetically pleasing by reducing your excess perineal skin and evening out the labia.

As the inventor and innovator of the wedge technique in 1994, I reconstruct many women who have had labia reductions by other surgeons, both wedge and trimming techniques​. You had a trimming labiaplasty which resulted in some asymmetry and scalloping. I published the first and most extensive paper on labia reconstruction in the prestigious journal "Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery" about 15 years ago. You can have a much better appearance by a very skilled reconstructive labiaplasty surgery. Approximately 40% of the surgeries I perform are revisions of other surgeons' labiaplasties. I would use a small wedge excision to eliminate the area of your concern. You only get one good chance to reconstruct you, so be patient and ask a lot of questions.
