I had two children several years ago and I didn't realize why my vagina was in pain at times during intercourse as I was told never to look down there after childbirth and it'll take time to heal. Well fast forward three years after my last kid, I decide to get shave down there for my first time and I can see my labia minora (the right side) is torn all the way in half. That's why it never felt right and my gynecologist told me it looks like the doctor screwed up during labor and snipped it by accident. He said it's more of a pain to fix even with labiaplasty (As it could cause more damage) and only recommended estrogen cream to help with the pain during sex. Is there any way I can reverse this childbirth damage? Is it utterly too late? :(

Answer: Labia minora tears from childbirth can usually be fixed If the gap in the labia is the full extent of the damage, it can certainly be fixed. I linked a video of a similar repair for a woman with your same problem and she did well with a layered reconstructive labiaplasty. This is expert level work, so travel if you must. I recommend a virtual consultation as the first step.

Answer: Correcting Labia Tear after Childbirth Hi Tasha! Yes this would be easy to fix. It would be a procedure done under local anaesthetic (no need to go to sleep) to repair the split in that right labia. It's hard to predict whether it would fix the pain, but fixing the area itself would be reliable and would not cause more damage

Answer: Labia tear post Childbirth - Options and treatments are available! Thank you so much for sharing your story — I want you to know first and foremost that you’re not alone, and it is absolutely not too late to address and repair this type of post-childbirth damage. What you're describing sounds like a labial tear or asymmetry that may not have healed properly, likely related to trauma during delivery or an episiotomy. While some providers may hesitate to repair these cases, this is exactly the type of reconstructive cosmetic gynecology we specialize in. Although an in-office consultation is the best way to fully assess the tissue, shape, and healing potential, I can confidently say there are several proven surgical options that can reshape, restore symmetry, and alleviate pain or discomfort during intimacy. In fact, we regularly treat similar cases with beautiful, functional outcomes — even years after the original trauma. Your gynecologist may have meant well, but it's important to understand that general OB/GYNs don’t always specialize in aesthetic or restorative labial repair. A skilled cosmetic gynecologist (like myself) can approach this with precision and care to reconstruct torn tissue, reduce scarring, and preserve or even improve sensation. We also use advanced recovery techniques including PRP, topical peptides, and tailored post-op protocols to enhance healing and reduce complications. You deserve to feel whole, confident, and comfortable in your body again. Please don’t lose hope — we’d love to welcome you in for a consultation and talk through all your options. Let us know when you’d like to come in. We’re here to help you move forward.

Answer: CAN LABIA TEAR BE REPAIRED Thank you for your questionI cannot agree with your gynecologist. This can and should be repaired but needs a surgeon who is well trained and knowledgeable about the anatomy of the Vulva. Do your homework. Review photos and reviews. Compare, Ask how they will approach the repair and see who makes the most sense.
