I’m wondering if labia minora can be resurfaced to help with texture, color, and the appearance of fordyce spots. Does anyone preform this? If so, what is recovery like and does it cause any shrinking of tissue?

Yes, labia minora resurfacing is a procedure that can help improve texture, color, and the appearance of Fordyce spots or other minor irregularities. This generally refers to non-surgical or minimally invasive techniques that improve the appearance of the labia minora, including: Laser resurfacing like CO2 laser or Radiofrequency treatments like Morpheus8. Recovery depends on the technique used but downtime is usually a few days with temporary swelling, redness, or sensitivity. Minimally invasive resurfacing does not normally shrink the labia minora. Some mild tightening or firming can happen due to collagen stimulation, but it’s not significant. Its best to consult with a board-certified gynecologist.

Labial resurfacing can help improve the look of the labia minora by smoothing the texture, evening out the color, and removing dark spots or discoloration. Keep in mind, this is not the same as a labiaplasty, where tissue is actually removed. Resurfacing only works on the surface to enhance appearance. It's important to see a skilled surgeon who is experienced in cosmetic gynecology, and be sure to review plenty of before-and-after photos to understand what results to expect.

When I have patients consulting me for labiaplasty revision. It typically is because 
1. One  side is bigger than the other. 
2. Irregular or lumpy skin healing
3. Scarring
4. Separation
5. Unhappy with previous labiaplasty results
 The process of revisions can involve radio frequency resurfacing, laser resurfacing or micro needling. They are all minimally invasive and require much shorter recovery than the initial  labiaplasty procedure.

Yes, the best resurfacing is Co2 laser resurfacing, and it would destroy Fordyce spots. Minimal tissue contraction occurs.
