Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty similar to Rihanna or Alicia Keys nose? (Photo)

I am a double board certified facial plastic surgeon located in Los Angeles who specializes in ethnic rhinoplasty procedures. There are countless facial plastic surgeons out there so I strongly suggest that you do lots of research and find a surgeon who has a very high level of expertise specifically with ethnic rhinoplasty. This will help ensure that you get a natural result that fits right in with your other facial features. I always work with my patients to create a customized treatment plan to provide them with the most idea result possible. This is even more important for ethnic rhinoplasty procedures, as opposed to getting a “cookie cutter” nose job that doesn’t take into account your ethnic background. There are ways that I avoid creating an unnatural outcome in African american noses (for example: limiting the over resection of nostrils; creating a natural bridge; avoiding over pinching of the tip; creating harmony between the tip and bridge; creating facial balance with rest of the face, etc) .

Hello your nose skin and bone quality also very important during the surgery. Yes your nose will get thin and narrow.

It is certainly possible to receive a Rhinoplasty procedure aimed at decreasing the width of your nose, however, it is important that you keep in mind that the nose is an individual characteristic. The degree to which your new nose is slender must match your face in naturalness and proportionality because the exact nose for Rihanna or Alicia Keys will not necessarily look best on you. A rhinoplasty where a slight dorsal hump reductin is performed with tip refinement and alar base reduction would be indicated. You are a good candidate for this procedure. 

Thank you for asking this question on one of my favorite topics. The african american nose has thick sebaceous skin that makes it hard to see a difference with only subtle maneuvers. In order to achieve a noticeable change a dorsal augmentation with rib or crushed cartilage would be useful.  Hello and thank you for your question.  Your nose can be refined with the use of a rib cartilage graft and septal cartilage grafts. You will need augmentation of your nasal bridge in addition to a reduction in your nostril size, and alar flaring. Cartilage suturing techniques to refine your nasal tip. See a board certified plastic surgeon experienced in ethnic rhinoplasty. Good luck. 

If you "have no desire to have a fat nose in any way, shape, or form" and want a  result like Ms Rhianna or Ms Keys, who have much thinner nasal skin, I would advise you not to have surgery. However, I do suggest that you have a consult with a rhinoplasty surgeon who does a lot of Ethnic rhinoplasties because these pictures can be misleading.

research, you will see that there are surgeons experienced in African American
Rhinoplasty. Take time to look at before and afters, watch videos that he
doctor has created to educate patient and read reviews. The internet has given
the consumer a powerful tool to learn and vet surgeons prior to consultation
and deciding on surgery. Remember just because a surgeon is certified by a
particular Board, doesnt mean that they have the necessary experience to get
