I have been told differing opinions on this matter. One doctor told me after breast augmentation under the muscle I could no longer (ever) do pull ups, push ups, or chest isolation work outs. I am okay with the no heavy weighted chest isolation work outs, but do enjoy pull ups and push ups. Another doctor told me I would be able to do it all, with the exception of heavy heavy lifting, after healed. I'm not sure which is accurate and if I'm investing that much money I dont want to ruin them.
Answer: Pull ups, push ups after under muscle placement? Almost 70% of breast augmentations in the United States are placed in the submuscular position. One disadvantage of this position is movement of the implants with muscle contraction. Over time repeated contraction of the pectoralis muscle will tend to push the implants further apart leading to a wider space between the implants. The muscle is attached at the breast bone and the clavicle but it has a very loose attachment at the outside of the chest so the implant will tend to migrate lateral anyway and this will be accelerated with more and more contraction of the muscle. In the United States the majority of plastic surgeons use the incision in the crease because it is the most straightforward way to do the operation and it is associated with the fewest complications. I hope this helps.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Effects of breast augmentation on chest muscles Dear Amanda,Unless you are a body builder or power lifter, there should be little to no effect on your ability to do chest exercises. I'm not sure where the incision argument is coming from, but both transaxillary and inframammary incisions are acceptable and each has its advantages and disadvantages, which you can read about on my website if interested. Good luck!

Answer: No restrictions on pull ups or push ups with sub muscular implants There are many advantages to sub muscular dual plane placement and very many disadvantages to sub glandular placement. I would see no indication to do anything but sub muscular. The most sophisticated approach to breast augmentation is through the armpit with a surgical camera (transaxillary endoscopic). Using this modern approach the space can be crafted under direct vision, with virtually no bleeding and no postoperative bruising. Most importantly, the shape of the breast is meticulously created. The other, older methods of insertion are technologically less advanced. Both silicone and saline implants can be placed through the armpit by a surgeon with skill and experience using this approach. The incision in the crease is the oldest method of placing the implants and puts a scar directly on the breast. Under the muscle does not restrict your physical activity in any way after surgery.

Answer: Pull ups, push ups after under muscle placement? Thanks for your question. At 6 weeks after having a Breast Augmentation, my patients are typically cleared of all types of exercise, regardless of implant placement. It is still important to take it easy and listen to your body. Best of luck!
