It's been off for 3 days now and there's an apparent bump on the bridge. I need an opinion on whether this is most likely swelling or not. I thought it was the tip that mainly swells..
Answer: Nasal hump following rhinoplasty Thank you for the photo. 9 days is still pretty early in the healing process but I certainly can appreciate the dorsal hump. I suspect that this hump was not there when your surgeon placed your nasal cast onto your nose after surgery. It is most likely post operative swelling but it is quite marked. I would give it several weeks and swelling of that magnitude will settle down. The rest of your nose looks quite good so a slight modification of that dorsal hump would be a relatively simple procedure with a very quick recovery. Best of luck!

Answer: Bump on bridge after rhinoplasty Hi and thanks for the question. Overall, it's still very early in the healing process. Without an in-person exam, it would be impossible to tell you whether the bump is related to underlying bone/cartilage or just swelling. At this early stage, I often have my patients apply paper tape to their noses at night, to help reduce the swelling. You should ask your surgeon whether she or he thinks this intervention is appropriate. A steroid injection could be an option in a couple of weeks, if there is some soft tissue swelling. In the long run, small bumps on the bridge can often be smoothed out with a tiny rasp under local anesthesia in the office, but hopefully this won't be necessary in your case!Kind regards,Dr. Mehta

Answer: Post rhinoplasty Hello and thanks for your question, Because of how the nose is structured and how nasal procedure affects the nose, swelling can create abnormal changes to the nose that settle and decrease with time. I'd recommend waiting and just "doing life" for the next several months. If the "bump" still remains, it's wise to have your surgeon check it, often times for soft tissue swelling in that area, some steroids can be injected to decrease inflammation which can help. Hope that helps and God Bless!Dr. Robb Jr.

Answer: Soft tissue versus bone or cartilage... It is best to check in with your surgeon, but this early on your swelling may indeed be soft tissue swelling that will resolve with time and massage. Your surgeon is your best resource both for an opinion and for post-operative treatment recommendations. Best of luck to you.

Answer: Swelling after Rhinoplasty & Results You need to have patience with your body as it begins to heal. The skin, bone and cartilage are all traumatized during surgery. Inflammation (swelling) is the normal response and will help your nose to heal and look beautiful in the end. If, one year from now, you are unhappy with your nose, then that is the time to think about a revision procedure. Right now, concentrate on other things you like to do and let your nose and under eyes take the time to heal. I hope this helps.
