You can wear a hat after surgery. Hats do not cause hair loss and hats do not affect transplanted hairs. Unless your hat is so tight it is rubbing on your scalp and causing traction and irritation.
Hi and thanks for your question. As long as your hat doesn't press or rub on the areas that were transplanted, you can wear a clean hat 2 days after surgery which is when the bandage is removed. 2 weeks after the transplant, you don't have to worry about where the hat touches your scalp. You can just wear it as you would normally if you had not any transplant.
Thank you for your question. I tell my patients it's fine to wear a looser fitting hat, just nothing that's sitting tight on the scalp. I would recommend following your surgeons protocol. Best of luck to you.
Dear SpgelloThanks for the question. Your grafts become solidified (safe) during the 3-6th day after hair transplant. If you don´t harm or damage your scabs during that time, your grafts will be safe. You can start wearing a cap and put it on with caution already 1,2 days after hair transplant. I wish you all the best.
No however the first several days post op do not let the hat press or rub the fresh grafts. After a week it should be good to wear any hat.
Wearing a hat should not hurt your grafts or your growth yield following surgery. Our clinic allows patients to start wearing hats within 24 hours after surgery. But it will be important to choose a head covering that is loose and will not irritate the skin. Itching or inflammation may be detrimental to the follicles. If you have any doubts, ask your doctor about specific hats, beanies etc. that you would like to wear. Here is a helpful article on what to expect after a hair transplant procedure
You can wear a hat 1 weeks after surgery, but be careful to don’t wear to tight one. And give some breath to your hair.
My patients are instructed that they can wear a loose-fitting hat starting on the 3rd day after a hair transplant. This helps many patients get back to work or go out in public. The hat should not rub on the recipient areas and should be put on and removed very carefully. After about two weeks after surgery, a hat should have no impact on a hair transplant, hair loss, or hair growth. All the best,
Hats are perfectly fine to wear 3 weeks after hair transplant. While 2 is probably ok, I'd want to ensure that the hat isn't going to interfere with healing or jeopardize the grafts. Theoretically, the grafts at 2 weeks should be integrated into the scalp but I tend to be very conservative on this one.
It is advisable to be cautious with what you are wearing on your scalp post hair transplant. Grafts anchorage takes 7 to 10 days on an average. Try avoiding direct pressure and rubbing or any kind of friction over the grafted area. This will prevent follicles from coming out and also the bleeding post extrusion. Hair growth is not affected as such in fact you can prevent dust and dirt from settling on your scalp if you wear a cap or a hat. But please avoid any kind of direct pressure on the grafted area until about two weeks.Thereafter it doesn't matter what you apply or wear on the scalp. You can certainly wear a hat to work after two weeks.
I doubt it would be wise to become an experimental subject exploring an area where this has never been done successfully. The best way to make a female to appear to ahve a thicker head of hair is to get scalp micropigmentation. See below
So do many people before and after a hair transplant. Dandruff is best treated with good shampoos like Head and Shoulders shampoo
Lowering hair lines can take 1000-2000 grafts depending on the size of your follicles. Also, a touch up is often needed for final density increase.
