Can I have a tummy tuck and hair transplants done the same week?

Hi, could I get a tummy tuck and a hair transplant the same week? I would be fine not to get anesthesia for the hair transplants, and would do it first so i wouldnt have to worry about laying on my stomach immediately after a tummy tuck, but I know hair shedding/telogen effluvium after a tummy tuck cna be commonly experienced and is like to make sure the hair transplant takes as muchs much as it can. Can both be done in close succession to one another? Id like to minimize my time off work. If not, why?

I certainly appreciate your desire to minimize time off from work, but I would recommend spacing these procedures out. Following the hair transplant, you're going to experience some swelling to the scalp and face. In addition, it's imperative that the hair recipient sites remain undisturbed as much as humanly possible to maximize the 'take' of the follicle transfer. From the perspective of an anesthesia provider, their primary focus is maintaining your airway during an operative procedure. During the first portion of a tummy tuck, the patient is positioned flat on their back, which is not an ideal position to be in following a hair transplant procedure. Having had a hair transplant myself, I can attest that your swelling is going to resolve more quickly if you maintain an upright position as much as possible in the first few days after your transplant. Also, most patients have donor follicles removed from the back of the scalp, which is where the anesthesia provider is going to place their gel/foam pillow to prevent pressure injuries during a tummy tuck procedure. It isn't ideal to have fresh healing wounds during an elective procedure. That would place your your donor site at a higher risk of infection than if you give yourself time to recover from the hair transplant first.
The 'recovery' from a hair transplant isn't bad. I had mine done on a Friday, took my compressive bandage off on Saturday, took one Tylenol and I was fine. I went back to work on Monday. Now, thankfully I work in a profession where I was able to put on a loose-fitting scrub cap to protect the hair transplant donor/recipient sites. But from a results standpoint and a safety standpoint, you're going to be better off if you space out these procedures by 6 - 12 weeks.
