6 years post breast aug - Did my implants rupture or just get bigger and sag? Will I need a lift or just new implants? (Photos)

Question

I had a BA in 2020. I got 350 CC silicone modrate plus. They have gotten way bigger and dropped/sagging. I'm not sure if they ruptured? or its normal 6 years later to look like this. I do plan on going to see the doctor I got them done with if they ruptured. I loved them before when they sat up and were smaller. Do they look ruptured or it could be from gaining weight and losing? And would I need a breast lift plus new implants or just new implants would be enough?

Breasts will continue to change over the implants, this may include sagging or ptosis, enlargement with weight, etc.

Your implants appear intact.

A breast lift will restore lax skin and tissue, make breasts more perky.

Follow up with your/a plastic surgeon is recommended to confirm this as well as discuss your options,

Implants are not forever devices and all women should consider an MRI to check their slicone gel implants somewhere beiween 5 and 10 years after having them replaced.  Each surgeon has their own recommendations.

That said, gel implants may rupture and show no early external signs.  What you seem to have is natural aging of your result, as no lift lasts forever.

Dear Jenny,
    Thanks for posting your post operative pictures. It would have been helpful to see your before pictures. From observing your pictures you appear to have level 2 ptosis (sagginess) and possibly capsule contracture on the right breast. To achieve a more perky and youthful look, you will benefit from a mini lift (donut, purse string) procedure. A capsulotomy (scar release) on the right breast will give you a nice upper slope and obviously softer breast.
    Always consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Most importantly. check the before and after pictures of redo breasts augmentation with mini lift in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent , perky and natural looking.

It’s completely understandable to feel concerned when your results change so significantly over time, but what you’re describing implants appearing larger and more "sagging" is more likely related to changes in your own breast tissue rather than a rupture. Silicone ruptures are often "silent" and typically result in a loss of volume or a change in shape (becoming firmer or distorted) rather than an increase in size. The added fullness and drooping (ptosis) are very common clinical outcomes of weight fluctuations or natural hormonal changes, which can increase the volume of your natural breast tissue and stretch the skin envelope. Simply replacing the implants with new ones likely won't address the sagging; to get back to that "perky" look you loved, you would likely need a mastopexy (breast lift) to remove the excess skin and reposition the tissue higher on the chest wall. I definitely recommend seeing your original surgeon for a physical exam and potentially an ultrasound or MRI to rule out a rupture for your peace of mind, but be prepared to discuss a lift as the primary way to restore your desired silhouette.
