Areola reduction gone wrong - Will I need a lift? How do I feel confident again? (Photos)

I have always had larger breasts. When I was younger and stupid I had an areola reduction done by a non board certified doctor. They gave me little to no aftercare instruction and now the scars around my areola have strestched out to considerably larger to what my areolas were before and are all bumpy. I like my breast size and shape overall. I am a D cup. But I’m really insevure about my breasts now and want to fix it but don’t want to make the same mistake again. Do I need a full breast lift? Could I just have an areola reduction revision? What should I do to avoid scarring. I really dont want the huge scars that follow breast lifts as i am really young. Please let me know what i should do. I want a procedure that goes well so I never have to touch up my breasts again. Ideally I would want to only have the areola reduction done again, but I don’t want any sagginess so a breast lift may be necessary but i really want to avoid those scars especially the vertical ones i think they look scary. I just want to feel confident again

The technique I recommend is the Bellesoma. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation (in 95%) and the ability to breast feed are maintained. At the same time, the areolas can be reduced to the size you desire.

This is a very common outcome of circumareolar lift/reductions. I agree; revising this would lead to the same outcome. Conversion will remedy all the issues: persistently large areolas, wide and raised scars, and persistent breast ptosis. This is achieved by performing a lollypop or anchor scar pattern. This will take all the tension off the perimeter of the areola allowing for a thin, flat, white scar. The vertical scar will heal with much less issues than your current scar and will fade significantly over time.

Hello, thank you for your question, after evaluating your case, a Areola reduction can be done to reduce the diameter, but in order to correct the sagginess of the breast (ptosis) a Lift is needed.

Unfortunately, areolar reduction scars can widen over time, especially with changes in breasts.

If you like the shape, size, look of your breast, then a repeat areolar reduction can be performed. This would be just around the areolae. This would avoid T scars, etc with a breast lift.

A breast lift would be indicated if you wanted higher, perkier breasts with smaller areolae. Again, trade off would be T scars which you don’t want.

An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon is recommended to further discuss your options and expectations.

Thank you for your email and inquiry. I'll try my best to answer. As you say, the major problem is an enlarged areola and a sagging look to the breasts. There is plenty of breast tissue otherwise. The major problem you have is the desire to have the areola smaller and the breast shape better and to have it last and stay in good position. I believe this is all possible but you need a surgeon who is comfortable and experienced with suture and reconstruction techniques that can do this.
