I am a 5'4 woman, 150 pounds. In the last four years I've lost approximately 60 pounds from a high of 210. I have always hated my abdominal area. Even at my lowest weight in the 130-135 lb range, I had this weird b-shaped pooch. I can't wear tight dresses, a bikini, or anything that pulls across my stomach. No amount of diet or exercise seems to have an impact on this area. Is this loose skin, or fat? Should I look for Coolsculpting, SlimLipo, Lipo, a tummy tuck? Any recommendations?

Answer: Tummy Tuck Thank you for your question. If you are at a stable weight then you would be a good candidate for a tummy tuck and lipo. Schedule a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon.

Answer: What procedure is right for my B-shaped abdominal area? CoolSculpting, SlimLipo, tummy tuck? Congratulations on your weight loss. While there are a variety of procedures that can produce a good cosmetic result in the appropriate patient: non-surgical fat contouring with radio-frequency technology like Vanquish, liposuction,Coolsculpt, a mini tummy tuck, or a full tummy tuck, only a full tummy tuck plus liposuction of selective areas will produce a good cosmetic appearance in a patient with your anatomy. Nonsurgical procedures and liposuction alone, no matter which type, will not result in a satisfactory correction. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you exactly what to do based on limited photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
