6 days PO Restalyne injected in tear troughs has caused huge undereye bags and malar edema. Any input or similar cases? (photos)

Looking at your picture, it looks like you didn't really need undereye filler to begin with. Nonetheless, now I would wait 2 weeks to see if things improve. If they don't then you can always have the filler dissolved with Hyaluronidase. Best wishes.

H @oho5002! I would recommend waiting a full two week for the swelling and bruising to subside. If you are still not happy after two weeks, I recommend dissolving the filler with Hyaluronidase. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

This often happens with a cannula technique which is why it is not recommended to use for under-eye regions. The location of the cannula can never be precisely known so the precision and accuracy are low. In this case, there is filler placed superficially and it needs to be dissolved, it won't go away on its own.

Hi, thank you for your question. Based on your history and photos, you may still be experiencing swelling from the procedure. I suggest waiting another 10 days for everything to settle in 100% as the tear troughs cause more edema than other areas of the face. If after that period of time, you are still noticing that edema, return to your provider and have him/her re-evaluate it.

give it time. this still looks like a small amount of swelling, and i would absolutely give this some time before intervening. you might try some lymphatic massage, or just wait it out. it will probably end up looking fantastic.

Swelling after filler injection is a common issue, more so in the tear trough area. It is probably a combination of filler material, soft tissue edema due to the procedure itself and water attraction by the filler. As unappealing as it may sound, waiting it out while trying to help the swelling with head elevation at night and decreasing salt intake is probably the best option. Injecting hyaluronidase to dissolve the filler carries the risk of hollowing the tear troughs even more as hyaluronidase not only dissolves the filler but also native hyaluronic acid in the soft tissues. 

To be quite honest, it did not look like you needed anything injected into your lower eyelids all together. But now that you have had the treatment, I would give it at least a couple of weeks to let the settling process occur. If not happy after 2 weeks, visit your plastic surgeon to address issues on hand. Good luck from New York City

Eyelids swell very easily.  Fillers work by attracting fluid, but they do that even more for the first few weeks after treatment.  It is best to wait a full two weeks before doing any adjustments following lower lid filler.  At that point, if you are still too full, some of the filler can be dissolved by your doctor.
