I'm a female, almost 72 years old. 3 1/2 weeks ago I had lower blepharoplasty because I have hated my obvious eye "bags" for a very long time. My ps had told me she'd want to "pinch" the corners, but I wasn't prepared for the sleepy-eyed Asian look I've had, and the pinch in the corners is very tight and irritating. I've put some ointment on them at night to try to relax them. Is there anything I can do besides wait? Wondering if Botox into the corners might help.
Answer: Recommend doing a small revision followed by proper scar treatment Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars. Answer: Bump after Blepharoplasty Thank you for your question. The bump will most likely smooth out as the body continues to heal. Your surgeon may want you to massage the area. The tightness will also resolve in time. Be patient, it takes three to six months for the area to heal. Good luck

Answer: Lower eyelid bump after blepharoplasty: What do I do? This is not uncommon especially in the first month or so after surgery. The "sleepy-eyed Asian" look you described will usually settle out as well. The tightness and soreness at the corners is common and depending upon what sutures as used can last a few months. Generally I have always seen it go away. I advise if you don't have any medical contraindications, ulcers/kidney disease etc., to try over-the-counter NSAIDS (e.g., Advil) at the recommended package dosing as the anti-inflammatory properties can be helpful and improve the comfort. Gentle massage can be helpful after it has been 3-4 weeks as well. I instruct my patients to put some vaseline on their finger tip and gently massage the tight area. If a bump remains where the skin was recruited/moved for the removal then I perform what I call "bump thermoplasty" with a disposable hi-temp cautery handpiece which works well to flatten the area. Please be in contact with your surgeon as they know your personal situation best, and want not only the best outcome for your but also your satisfaction. Best regards.

Answer: Bump from pinch As there is no photo I can not say specifically but in most cases any bunching, folds or bumps usually resolve over the months following the surgery. During the first three months of healing, your body is still building up scar tissue so the incisions feel tight. After three months, your body starts to breakdown the scar tissue and the incisions will relax. I tell my patients that they can gently massage the tight area with small circular motions. Applying a little ointment can help make this a little more gentle. Even if you do nothing your body has an amazing ability to heal. I'm hopeful you will be just fine and best of luck.

Answer: Scar bump and pinched look It is not uncommon to have a small bump on the lateral side of the eye after lower lid lift since skin has to be gathered not only in the upward direction but also in the lateral direction to smooth out the lower lid. Massage of the "bump" will help resolve the problem but also more time is needed. You should check with your board certified plastic surgeon as to the actual time element in your situation. Your look will improve as the scar softens.
