Loose skin under chin - no excess fat - Neck Lift? (Photo)

Question

43 yo female, I have loose skin under my chin and sides of my neck, I don't believe there is much fat there it's predominantly skin. It really bothers me. Would a mini neck lift (or neck lift) fix this? And where would the incision be?

Hi there! Yes, a mini necklift/necklift would be appropriate for this circumstance. You might also want to consider a chin implant to help the projection. The incision for both procedures is under the chin.

In general, skin laxity under the chin with no associated volume excise is corrected better by facelift surgery than by neck lift surgery. This is because the facelift intervention has a more vertical vector and addresses the area under the chin more directly in terms of the skin tightening.

The neck lift has also value for volume control, which may be related to fatty tissue, but can also be related to digastric muscles and submandibular glands. Neck lift surgery will also cater for skin laxity.

As far as I can tell from the photographs, the best answer to your question would be a deep plane facelift, even as a short scar facelift, absorbing the submental skin excess. This would be predominantly towards the sideburns and lower part of the temple regions.

A consultation in person with a surgeon specializing in facelift and neck lift surgery would be an important part of the decision process because it allows a more accurate determination of laxity and volume, and allows you to understand better the impact of different interventions.

You have significant loose skin underneath your jawline and chin area, which is going to require a lower face and neck lift to tighten loose facial and neck skin, and  tighten loose facial and neck muscles.
