Uneven stomach years after liposuction - should I be looking into CoolSculpting? (photos)

Question

I had lipo done in the abdominal area in 2008. I weighed 180LBs then. After the procedure I gained and lost weight a few times and I am now 147LBS (stable weight for 3 years). I am still trying to lose aprox. 17 more pounds but I find that when I tuck my tummy in, it looks uneven and lumpy. I imagine it is because some areas no longer have fat cells and some do. In order to have a flat stomach will losing the rest of the weight be enough? Should I be looking int cool sculpting? Is it loose skin

Hello!, thanks for your question. The coolsculpting is a device that helps to eliminate in a non surgical way some localized fat deposits, many times you will need more than one session in order to get the result you are looking for. Another possibility is to do again a surgical treatment.

Dear realskinproblems,
I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas the undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately.
The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. While there is always a chance for contour irregularities with liposuction, someone who takes their time and uses the appropriate sized cannulas should give you a superb result.I have all my patients wear compression garments and I use multiple sized cannulas to feather out the result.

Cool Sculpting does not always work, so I would consider liposuction for the residual fat.  Once you have lost your weight, then consider a tummy tuck if you have much loose skin.

From your description and photos it appears you would have the best result from a standard tummy tuck.  This would improve the contour irregularities as well as remove excess skin.  Further cool sculpting is not likely to correct your concerns.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

A physical exam would answer your questions more accurately.   If there is skin laxity, Liposuction will make it worse.  If the skin turgid is good, then you may be somewhat improved with liposuction alone.

Thanks for posting photos, it always helps. You can try directed superficial liposuction with the caveat of wrinkled or dented skin as a possible outcome. In my postoperative phase I require aggressive massages with external ultrasound therapies fr 2-3 weeks, with tight compression. if still unhappy or healing with uneven skin then you would require a skin only full TT. As for using CoolSculpting - BAD IDEA, Bad Technology. Seek virtual consult....

More isolated liposuction or cool sculpting will not help.

Your best option is a full tummy tuck.

That will give you a very nice result.

Regarding that you don't have a scar around your belly button I suppose that you had a mini tummy tuck, that does not help upper abdominal skin tightening too much. It is a better option to consider converting to a classical tummy tuck so the belly button will not be looking down and all the skin can evenly be tightened. A coolsculpt won't help correct these deformities.

It looks like skin laxity is your primary problem. A full tummy tuck is probably your best option if you want a tight flat abdomen.

Further fat reduction is probably not going to be in your favor because it isn’t going to treat the primary issue which is skin laxicity.

Try pulling your skin tight and see how much it improves the contour.
