Can Upper Blepharoplasty Be Done Again?

Question

About 10 years ago, I had upper bleph. I was never happy with the results, it seems that not enough skin was taken off. I've seen a doctor here in Las Vegas that said it's hard to do cause there is scar tissue. Can it be corrected with another surgery?

Absolutely, the upper eyelids can be revised. The results can be excellent. The issues is what is going on with your eyelids and what needs to be done to fix what was done before and what needs to be done to achieve the vision you have for how your eyes should look. By the way, my Father use to say: "if the butcher tells you the meat is bad, you should listen." When a surgeon tells you that something can't be done, it often means that they lack the skills to do what you are asking. You will need to search out a surgeon who devotes a good part of their practice to revising eyelid surgery.

Yes, another plastic surgery procedure on the eyelid may be performed. Plastic surgery does not stop the natural aging process or further sun damage. Additional skin or fat may need to be modified. A ptotic or droopy eyelid may need to be lifted. Alternatively, an eyebrow lift may be more appropriate to rejuvenate the upper eye area. Only after a comprehensive evaluation can a plastic surgeon help determine the appropriate options for you.

A second Blepharoplasty can definitely be done
provided that your first surgery happened a decade ago. There is just one thing
to remember and that is you have to have enough extra skin in there because there
will be a removal of other scar tissues that will be done as well. It is a must

Another Upper Blepharoplasty surgery could be performed if there is still extra skin that can be removed. However, please keep in mind that upper blepharoplasty surgery is a delicate procedure and becomes even more challenging when scar tissue is involved. It is acceptable to undergo a second blepharoplasty ten years later as long as there is enough extra skin. Other scar tissue can also be removed at the same time, but there must be enough excess skin, which necessitates undergoing the procedure.

Yes, upper blepharoplasty can be done again. But, it&rsquo;s usually not necessary to be done again. A browlift may be what is necessary.

Revision blepharoplasty can be performed with quite good results. While there is always a greater risk of abnormal scarring with any revision procedure, this risk is usually minimal. The biggest question with any revision blepharoplasty surgery is 'Is there enough excess skin?' to warrant the revision. If there is excess skin, then it is not a problem.

Without examining you it is impossible to correctly give you an answer to your question. However, one of the main problems when dealing with eyelid surgery, its no addressing the whole periorbital region, when deciding about the best procedure for a particular patient, the position of the eyebrow is very important, sometimes you need to do something like a browlift or a pexy.  If this is not performed, the results from a upper bleph can not be satisfactory. You need to be examined by a Board Certified plastic surgeon and determine what is the best treatment for you.

Yes indeed.

	Yes scar tissue will be present, but this is usually not a problem.  This is a delicate area, so great care must be taken to do the original surgery, and more so for a revision.  Despite this, the operation can ususlly be done with little problem.

	Find a surgeon who is experienced and comfortable with the procedure, and good luck.

Not sure what kind of doctor you went to; however, here in New York some how or other we are able to do upper lids more than once. As you age you will get excess skin and it can be re done - maybe the doctors think you have unrealistic expectations and dont want to operate on you.
