im due to have a fleur de lis tummy tuck on 14/12/15 but my last 2 blood tests have shown my white blood cells & platelets to be low? waiting for 3rd blood test results as my anaesthetist is concerned?Can my op still go ahead? What can cause this? i dont feel unwell other than all my bones & joints seem to be hurting recently? I have no known illness and take no medication ..with my op only being 2weeks away im worried it wont go ahead? Please can somebody give me some advice thanks Marie

Thank you for your question and I am sorry that these recent lab tests have caused you concern.  Ultimately all who participate in your care want to minimize all possible risks prior to surgery so that you are safe.  Your lab results should be discussed between your surgeon, anesthesiologist and primary doctor to ensure that their values do not indicate an issue that needs to be addressed before an elective procedure like a FDL tummy tuck.

Hi, thereI don't know how low your white blood cell and platelet counts are.However, if your plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist are concerned, you should post-pone the surgery to be worked up the low WBC and Plt counts.  Your surgery is elective; you want to make sure that you are medically optimized.Best regards.
