I had a tummy tuck with lipo 3 weeks ago (11/4/15) and I started walking 2 days after the surgery. The cramping is very painful and I had to massage my legs until the pain goes away. Is this normal?
Answer: Leg and foot cramping after surgery Obviously the most important concern for leg pain after surgery is a blood clot (DVT). However, this usually manifests itself with swelling of one calf and not the other and constant dull pain, not cramping pain. As mentioned an electrolyte abnormality would be the most common cause of your symptoms. A simple blood test can be ordered by your PS or PCP to confirm. Best of luck with your continued recovery!

Answer: Cramping after tummy tuck/abdominoplasty It may be normal to have some cramping even this far out after your operation. However, if it continues, you should absolutely be checked by your surgeon to ensure that you don't have any other issues including electrolyte abnormalities etc.It is imperative that you seek the advice of a plastic surgeon who is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and has extensive experience in tummy tuck / abdominoplasty. I wish you the best. Dr. Gabbay.
