I got my lips done a week ago today and a bump appeared whilst she was doing the filler, my doctor told my it was just bruising and it should go down... now that the swelling has gone down I can see a lot more bumps which make my lips look very uneven and unnatural. I went back to my doctor and she advised this is an infection so I am currently taking anti-booties but most of the reviews stated that it could be because the filler was injected to close to surface?
Answer: It is not infection Thank you for your photographs. It would be helpful to know how long it has been since your injection. Those bumps are filler and they can either go down on their own in a few days or need to be injected with Vitrase to soften them. It definitely doesn't look like an infection. Hope this helps. Best, Dr.Avaliani

Answer: Bumps After Lip Filler That doesn't look like an infection. I would agree that it's most likely too much filler injected too superficially. You also still have some swelling. You can try massage, but it may not fully resolve things. If after 2 weeks there is no improvement then you can have the filler dissolved with Hyaluronidase. You may want to get an in-person second opinion and examination from a physician who has experience dealing with filler complications. Best wishes.

Answer: Bump in Lips Thanks for your question and this certainly does look like filler that is too superficial. I think that an in-person exam would be essential to figure out what can be done and generally we give swelling 2 weeks before making further recommendations. Certainly if this persist then you can have the filler dissolved assuming that it was an HA(Hyaluronic Acid) filler.

Answer: Bumps after fillers in the lips Thank you for your question and for sharing your photographs susan1222. I understand your concern. Fillers are used to restore lost volume in and enhance the appearance of the face. It is difficult to make an assessment without a formal exam in the office where I can view the skin in multiple angles. However, I hope the information provided here is useful. With any filler injection lumps and bumps are possible. For my patients I recommend gently massaging the area for 5 minutes at a time, 5 times per day, for 5 days as a guideline to smoothen out lumps and bumps. Swelling can last up to two weeks. We have our patients return at that time to assess the results using photographs. At that point more product can be added if further enhancement is desired or some of the product can be dissolved. If hyaluronic acid fillers are placed too close to the surface a blue tint may be visible; this is called the Tyndall effect. In such instances the product is usually easily dissolved and the blue color resolves. Please consult with a doctor for specific recommendations. Good luck!

Answer: Injectable fillers It certainly could be that the filler was injected to closely to the skin. I always massage those areas after I inject to avoid this.
