I had a c sections after a twin pregnancy nearly 7 years ago. I’m at my prepregnancy weight, but my stomach is large and hangs over and has a lot of marbley feeling lumps. My fat in general does not feel smooth like other parts of my body. I am waiting for an ultrasound to determine if these lumps are lipomas. Can excessive lipomas or scar tissue prevent me from being a candidate for a tummy tuck?

Answer: Can excessive lipomas or scar tissue prevent me from being a candidate for a Tummy Tuck? Hello and thank you for the question. It's difficult to tell without seeing photos, but based on what you are describing, you appear to be a great candidate for a tummy tuck surgery which would allow to remove the excess skin below the belly button and to tighten the recuts (abs) muscle in order to achieve a flat abdominal contour. This can be done through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line. The belly button can be designed to look natural with minimal scarring on the exterior. I would recommend to pursue ultrasound work up first to further evaluate your tissues for lipomas. In addition, I would recommend to obtain an in person consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon to further discuss your options and expectations. I hope this helps.Best, Dr. Karanetz Dr. Irena KaranetzFellowship-TrainedBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Lipomas You should be able to proceed with a tummy tuck even with the presence of lipomas. You will want to discuss what you can expect in terms of results with your surgeon as it is possible you will still be able to see and/or feel the lipomas after your procedure.
