Weight Gain 6 months after Liposuction, if I lose the weight will I see my original results?

Question

6 months post lipo (inner/outer thighs), I had incredible results, no cellulite, etc. Soon after, I had a couple of successive surgeries prohibiting weight lifting or cardio for combined months and I was prescribed several week+ courses of prednisone. I gained about 25 lbs. I am exercising daily and on a low carb diet now... when I lose the weight, will my previous results be visible, or have I essentially "wasted" my lipo procedure? Thank you for sharing your question and I hope that you are doing well after your surgeries.  If you return to a healthy diet and exercise regimen and slowly lose the 25 pounds you should return to, or near, your liposuction results.  Hope this helps.

While it is best to avoid weight gain after liposuction especially during the early post-operative period, sometimes things out of our control (surgery / injury) can happen.  Usually, as long as the weight is lost over time in the right way (slowly over time with exercise and diet), the results will return.  However, sometimes the weight changes may alter where fat is deposited and may be difficult to lose.   Best of luck.

Usually, if you gain weight, you will gain weight in untreated areas first after liposuction. It's possible that healthy diet and exercise will help you return to your initial results. To improve your results, I recommend Vanquish to all my post-liposuction patients, which you can have now, for further fat removal and skin tightening.  After liposuction, I also recommend exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. See an expert. When you gain weight after liposuction, the fat is distributed around your body and does not preferentially go to the site(s) of liposuction.  In general, losing the 25 lbs. and returning to your post-operative weight should allow your original results to be seen.  This weight gain and subsequent loss may result in some loose skin but otherwise the results should be similar.

You should be encouraged that weight loss after liposuction will return you back to your original results.  Liposuction results in the permanent removal of fat cells. Therefore if you're able to return back to your original weight after the initial liposuction surgery, you should be able to achieve the same figure.

Thank you for your question! When you gain weight after liposuction, your fat tends to accumulate in the areas that have not been liposuctioned. Since you're currently dieting and exercising, you may be able to restore your desired form. In some cases, however, pockets of fat may persist even after a weight loss program. Hopefully, you should be able to get long-lasting results out of your procedure since you're currently sticking to a healthy regimen. An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to assess your situation and guarantee an individualized medical advice.
