I current have 330cc saline implants and exchanging them to 550cc silicon implants. My doctor said he's going to just switch them without adjusting pocket. Is this normal or should the pocket be resized to fit larger implants? I see horror stories of women having their implants bottoming out. Is it because their implants weren't placed correctly?

Answer: Same pocket Hi. Usually, when increasing implant sizes, some minor adjustments to the pockets are done, either to make space for the slightly wider implant, or to release any early capsule tissue that has formed. If your pocket is already big enough for the implant, it may well be that no additional adjustments are planned - but of course, that may change intra-operatively, once your surgeon examines the pocket during the procedure. All the best,

Answer: Breast Implant Revision - Can a doctor use same pocket when using larger implants? More information is needed. Are you under the muscle? Are your current implants soft? Are your pockets OK now? Do you have too much lateral displace or too wide cleavage? Can you post photos? If you have a current submuscular pocket that is acceptable in shape and look, then your surgeon will likely just fine tune your current pocket to allow for a larger implant.Bottoming out coming from overaggrssive release of the muscle and/or a patient with very soft/weak connective tissue.
