14 months post deep plane facelift - could my neck be improved further? (Photos)

I am a 58 year old who had a deep plane face lift. My neck needed a lot of work I went to a very good doctor who is conservative and I wanted that I wasn’t looking to alter my look just refresh. I had it done about 14 months ago. I had a lot of swelling and mentioned at my 6 months follow up that i thought it could be tighter he dismissed me and said he wouldn’t do it and I was cleared from him. I am not happy with my neck and jawline. He did promise me a jawline better than I ever had. There was lipo suction done and removed buckle fat. I still have a lot of extra skin in my opinion I made another appointment to discuss this. What r your thoughts an I expecting too much?

Much more information is needed, such as a full set of facial and neck photographs from all angles in a chin neutral position. Your hair also needs to be pulled back behind your ears to see how your incisions have healed as well. From these very limited photographs, there appears to be platysma bands in the neck, residual fat, possible hypertrophy of the digastric muscles and laxity of skin. It's also important to know if you had a deep neck lift procedure performed as well. Make appointments with three facelift specialists for possible revision.

It is completely normal to feel a bit anxious when noticing differences in the early stages of healing, but please rest assured that what you are seeing is a very common part of the recovery process. Asymmetry and localized swelling are standard in the first few weeks, as each side of the body heals at its own pace and internal inflammation settles differently. The "tightness" or "hard" sensation you're feeling is typically temporary internal scar tissue and edema, which will soften significantly as your tissues relax over the coming months. We recommend continuing with your post-op care instructions and remaining patient with your body; you will likely see everything balance out beautifully as the final contours emerge.

At 14 months after a facelift, most of the swelling has generally resolved, so if you still feel there is persistent laxity or excess tissue along the neck and jawline, it is reasonable to discuss your concerns further with your surgeon or be evaluated by another board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facelift and necklift surgeries. 
One important point is that patients with heavier necks, poor skin and tissue quality, those who have lost significant weight, or more challenging anatomy often cannot achieve an extremely sharp or “snatched” jawline with a conservative facelift alone. In those situations, even a technically well-performed deep plane facelift may produce only incremental improvement (not perfection). 
The skin is never meant to be very tight or taught like a drum--there is always a degree of skin relaxation after any procedure (including facelift). This is because of the biomechanical properties intrinsic to skin/tissue. 
If there truly is residual skin laxity, recurrent platysmal banding, residual submental fullness, or under-correction of the neck, a secondary tightening procedure or revision can provide additional improvement.
