How does permanently reducing the number of fat cells benefit you? CoolSculpting

Hi, I am a big fan of coolsculpting, and I did see great results from the treatments. However, I am just curious, if the remaining fat cells can always infinitely enlarge, how does permanently reducing the number of fat cells benefit me? Does reducing the number of fat cells makes it slightly harder for me to regain the fat? I think my core question is: Is it true that individuals with less # of fat cells are less likely to get fat? (even though fat cells can really expand to as large as they want)

CoolSculpting will permanently remove fat cells from areas of stubborn, exercise-resistant bulges. This is beneficial to you aesthetically because those fat pockets have a relatively larger number of fat cells than adjacent areas,  tend to be genetic and cannot be eliminated any other way. By removing the fat cells and maintaining your weight through diet and exercise, you will be able to keep your newly contoured figure indefinitely. 
However, removing the fat cells will not in itself prevent you from gaining weight. As you noted, the remaining fat cells can expand to accommodate extra fat if you are consuming more calories than you are burning. So no, it's not true that individuals with fewer fat cells are less likely to get fat. The only people who are less likely to get fat are those who ensure that they burn as many or more calories than they consume. CoolSculpting can help you achieve your ideal figure, but it does not give you license to overeat. Thank you for your question. By reducing the number of fat cells in the treated area, you will see less weight gain in that area as there are less cells to grow in size. Coolsculpting is great for treating stubborn areas of fat, those areas you gain weight first and lose the last. Regards,

CoolSculpting freezes fat cells, which destroys them. The lymph system then eliminates the components of the degraded cells. Once the fat cells are gone, they won't return. This means that your new figure will remain the same, as long as you don't gain more weight. However, this is an important caveat. Having fewer fat cells does not mean that you can overeat. The benefit of CoolSulpting is the permanent elimination of fat and a beautiful new figure. Great question! Reducing the number of fat cells overall typically means that if you were to gain weight you would have less volume gain in the areas that have had Coolsculpting. As someone who has done Coolsculpting on their lower abdomen and gained 8 lbs over the holidays, I did not notice volume gain in my lower abdomen but did find it on my flanks.  Ultimately it is best to maintain a healthy weight to support your great Coolsculpting results.

Thank you for your question. As it was answered below , cooslculpting reduces permantly 20-25 % with each session . That means that there will still be fat cells remaining that can expand in size however there will be less of them so the weight gain in the area will not be as visible as before.

This means that in the area that you treat with CoolSculpting you will have lesser ability to gain fat, since there are fewer cells there.  Be sure to discuss your goals and concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon and consider the pros and the cons. The real benefit in targeted reduction of fat in specific areas is that you can shape the body to give you that hourglass shape for women or a strong V shape in men.  Even if weight is gained down the road, there will be a tendency to maintain an aesthetically desired shape since the fat gain will be stored evenly throughout the remaining fat cells. By reducing the number of fat cells you have in a certain area, you do not render yourself immune from weight gain.  As you gain weight, fat cells will continue to expand and contract as they always have.  You may however notice that the areas you had Coolsculpting don't look bigger as quickly as before--meaning, if you had Coolsculpting on your abdomen and that's where you typically/preferentially show any weight gain, you may not notice it there as much because you will see it diffusely throughout the body.  It will always have to go somewhere.  Coolsculpting is best if you are stable in your weight-your problem areas will be much less noticeable if you remain at (or below) the weight you were when you had the procedure.

Hi there, thank you for your question! This is a common question and the simple answer is yes, the fat reduction is permanent!
When CoolSculpting® is applied to an area, 20-25% of the fat cells in that area will die. Even if the remaining fat cells increase in size, there will be a smaller number of them which means, less fat in the area than the patient had before treatment. Zeltiq (the makers of CoolSculpting®) have tracked clients who have gained weight after the treatment. The findings were that the area treated doesn't seem to increase to the size it was before treatment. 
CoolSculpting is a fantastic technology for this reason!
