Hello, I am a 22 year old female 5'5, 135 lbs. I have maintained a 70 lb weight loss for 2 years now and have wanted a tummy tuck for a very long time. As a child I had issues with my kidneys and urinary tract so had many surgeries to correct this leaving me with a c-section like scar and a scar below my navel, both combined with weight loss has given me a less than ideal look for someone my age. Would a mini tummy tuck fix this? or would this require a full TT?
Answer: Would this require a full TT? To address the excess skin that is actually visibly hanging a mini tummy tuck would be sufficient and ideal at this stage in your life. To remove both scars and treat the excess skin above the belly button then a full abdominoplasty would be required. In general though I would advise someone at your age to avoid a full abdominoplasty until after you've had children (or made a firm decision not to have them). If you were to get pregnant then it would stretch the skin out as well as potentially separate the muscles requiring a full tummy tuck to correct, however if you've already had a full tummy tuck there will be more scar tissue and less available skin so it may not be possible to do a complete revision of a full tummy tuck at that point. The only way to know for sure what the correct procedure is would be to book a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to be examined. Best of luck!

Answer: Debating mini versus full tummy tuck after weight loss Hello, congratulations on your weight loss. The best operation will depend on your expectations of the result, plus comparing the difference in cost, risks, and healing time. A mini tummy tuck would remove the overhanging piece of skin on your lower abdomen, but in the photos I see you are also pulling at redundant skin on the upper tummy as well. If this region is a concern, typically a full tummy tuck would provide better tightening of the entire abdomen. Your plastic surgeon can do a proper physical exam then explain the pros and cons of the two procedures, which will help you make a well-informed decision.

Answer: Abdominoplasty Thank you for your question. Based on the photos you provided, I believe you may qualify for a full tummy tuck. This procedure would be able to remove the excess skin and create a youthful appearing umbilicus leaving you with a smoother, flatter contour. I recommend speaking with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options.
