Am I candidate for a breast scar revision? (photo)

Hi, I got breast implants in 2019 and my surgerical site got infected and as a result, I was left with a nasty scar on one breast. Would a revision be possible? My nipple is also weird shaped

Plastic surgery scars require attention after surgery so that they remain cosmetically-appealing and barely noticeable. In our office, we use a protocol for scars that minimizes their activity in the 6-8 weeks after surgery. If you have late plastic surgery scars, you may also require laser and RF therapy to help reduce the longterm effects of the scarring. Keloids, hypertrophic scars, widened scars, red scars, and hyperpigmented scars all require scar modulation with topical creams followed by lasers and RF therapy. Topical skincare should be directed to a specific need, whether for pigmentation or hypertrophy and our office can guide you through the process to obtain the correct Plato’s Scar cream or Melarase cream for hypertrophy and discoloration. In terms of lasers, we would employ the vbeam laser for redness, Venus Viva RF, PRP microneedling, chemical peels, and Morpheus 8, fractional erbium, or fractional co2. All of these have their individual benefits. Most of all, we recommend you visit a solid plastic surgeon who understands surgical scar revision, laser therapy, and RF therapy for scars.

Yes, your scars can be revised but the entire scar area will be difficult to excise totally.  Also, the shape of the areola can be improved.

Yes, you are a candidate for a scar revision. Hopefully it would make the dark, wide scar much thinner, lighter, and less noticeable. Also could try to make your areola more round.  Talk to your surgeon to see what he/she thinks, but it shouldn’t be a problem.  Best of luck!

The scar and the areola could be improved, however, you may not have enough skin to completely excise the old scar because of such large and heavy implants.

Hello, Based on the photos you provided, it would be hard to say scar revision will work for you. It looks like you got the lollipop incision and the straight line got infected. For now, it would be hard to try the surgery to remove the scar since the skin is too tight and the scar is too wide. When the skin is too tight, even if the surgeon remove the bad scar and sutures pretty, it will get stretched and bigger. You have to remove the implant or reduce the size of it to get the scar revision so the skin is less tight and breasts have less tension from the heavy implants. Fundamentally, scar revision cannot actually remove the scar but just make them prettier and less noticeable. It would be better to try some laser toning or other scar treatment. For more accurate plans, you should have in-person consultation with a surgeon.

Correction, you had a breast augmentation with a substantial lift.  The scar on the one breast may be able to be improved with a revision surgery.  The width of the scar appears to be too wide to completely remove it.
