Best treatment for horizontal nasal bridge wrinkle?

The static wrinkle on the bridge of the nose is created by the procerus muscle depressing between the eyes. If you inject botox, you will paralyze the muscle and soften that line and prevent it from becoming deeper. If you have a deep static wrinkle there, you will need some type of skin resurfacing to correct that line and stimulate collagen. This would be laser ablation, microneedling, chemical peels, or microdermabrasion. Filler could be dangerous if injected by an inexperienced provider. Filler will only soften the line, it won't remove it. The only way to remove it is from one of the methods above. Good luck!

Hello. Thank you for your question. The nasal bridge wrinkle is often challenging to treat. A first line treatment is Botox in the procerus region. Despite this, the wrinkle is often under treated. The addition of filler is generally required. Even so, the line is improved but still present.

Ideally, both Botox and filler should be used to treat and unwanted, horizontal nasal bridge line. Botox would help to calm the muscle in the region (the dynamic component) whose motion is responsible for the development of the line in the first place. Filler, placed superficially along the line then be used to elevate and smooth the line (the static component) that years of muscular movement created. However, if one opts for only one treatment, the filler would likely give the more gratifying result. Hope this helps.

Thank you for sharing your question. Depending on severity of the crease you most likely will benefit from a combination of a neuromodulator like Botox as well as filler. The former to prevent worsening of the crease and have some improvement in its current appearance, while the latter will help smooth out any remaining indentation at the skin surface level.

If that wrinkle is present at rest, then I'd prefer to do both Botox into the procerus muscle (& some into the corrugators and bunny lines), as well as adding some filler. If the line only forms with animation/movement, then Botox alone should be sufficient. Most importantly for best results and safety, see your local cosmetic dermatologist.

That horizontal line usually appears due to the repetitive procerus muscle contraction and lack of collagen. Botox is your best bet because there are not risk of blindness from vascular occlusion (Vs Dermal fillers, they are very high risk in that area!)
Botox last about 3 months and fillers last around 9 months but, fillers involve risks especially and that particular area of the face. Make sure you talk to your injector about the risk of dermal fillers if you decide to do that.

Depending on how deep the wrinkle is and the amount of improvement you want to see, the answer could be either Botox or filler. It sounds like you are describing the Procerus, which causes a horizontal wrinkle between the brows/top of the nose. I would start with Botox to this area and see how you like the results, as it the least risky. Even if the line is deeper, with continues treatments with Botox, it can significantly soften.
Please consult with a Facial Plastic Surgeon if you are considering filler in this area, as it is higher risk than other area.
