Hi doctors, This has distressed me for a very long time and has made me self conscious to even reveal the left profile of my face to people! Why on earth does my nose look so different from the left versus the right? I absolutely detest the left side! Which cosmetic procedure could make both sides identical?
Answer: Asymmetry You have a mild asymmetry of your nasal cartilages. From the basal view, your medial crura appear to be of different sizes. From the side views, your domal cartilages appear to be of different sizes. You can undergo a rhinoplasty to even these out. However, you have an attractive nose overall and trying to achieve perfect symmetry will not be possible.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Your nasal septum may be slightly crooked... While it is hard to say for sure without an exam, it appears that the bottom of your nasal septum is deviated to the left a bit. That creates the fullness on the left side which can often be improved with a well performed rhinoplasty. Same goes for the differences on your three quarter views. Deviation of the nasal septum or bridge can make a bump look bigger from a particular side. While rhinoplasty can make a nice improvement, it is important not to expect perfection. There may always be a little difference from side to side - having a natural result is the key with rhinoplasty.

Answer: Achieving nasal symmetry through rhinoplasty Thanks for your question. The procedure you need is a rhinoplasty targeted to bring symmetry to the cartilages of your tip. Additionally, you very well may need a septoplasty, as it appears your caudal septum (the part nearest to the end of the nostrils) is over to the left.If your geo-tag is true and this question comes from Summit, NJ - then you have many excellent physicians in close proximity to choose from to address this concern.Wishing you the best of luck.

Answer: Asymmetry of the nose What you see is not uncommon at all. No human is completely symmetric from both sides. Of course if the asymmetry bothers a patient, we can evaluate them to see if rhinoplasty or non-surgical rhinoplasty might help them. That having been said, this should be no cause of medical concern or real distress in your life. If you can breath well, no need to go further. If the appearance is the bother, simply look into fixing the appearance. We'd be happy to help if you like as we have a good deal of experience with this problem and we're nearby. Best wishes.

Answer: Asymmetry of nostrils It is common to have asymmetry of the nasal tip and also the nostrils. The excessive asymmetry is usually because of an enlarged cartilage in one side of the nasal tip as opposed to the other. This can be corrected by reducing the size of the enlarged cartilage and restoring the normal appearing nose which would appear the same from both right and left side photographs.RegardsDr. J
