Is it normal for my nose to feel dry all the time and to get crust every day 8 month after Rhinoplasty?

My nose just feels really dry all the time and I get crust everyday, specially in the morning when I wake up. I went to see my surgeon on Friday and he said the crust is normal and everyone gets crust and he told me i don't need treatment. I was using saline gels and saline spray and sometimes Vaseline but i stopped per suggestion of my surgeon. but now my nose feels even more dry than before with crusting. could this be an infection, or maybe just a rebound effect from stopping moisturizers?

Intranasal mucosa is affected in many ways by surgery.  Healing intranasal anatomy will continue to undergo many changes over the 1st year after surgery.  You will have ocassional dryness and crusting, and/or nasal congestion and runny nose.  Saline rinses and saline gel will help with the healing.  Follow your surgeons recommendation and attend all post operative visits.

If you had an aesthetic rhinoplasty only it is unlikely that postoperative rhinitis would persist eight months after the operation. If airway work was done it's possible that alterations airflow through the nasal passages can contribute to the problem. This can be very long-lasting even permanent.

Hello. There are multiple reasons why you would have crusting. After 8 months I recommend you seek an experienced nose doctor for advice. You may have to use these moisturizers indefinitely.

No, it is not normal to have that condition. I would recommend you get a second opinion from an experienced surgeon who specializes in nasal surgeries to make sure that too much tissue was not removed. Best of luck,
