Should I still be this swollen 9 weeks after a full Tummy Tuck with muscles tightened? (photo)

It seems your plication sutures dehisced.  This can happen, especially with very tight plications as yours was.  The other possibility is a large seroma but you would feel fluid under the skin.  Visit with your doctor to see about tightening the muscles again.

Thank you for your picture. It is not uncommon for someone that has has a tummy tuck to still have swelling at nine weeks. Try to moderate your activity and continue wearing your supportive comment.  Keep close follow-up with your plastic surgeon. This should resolve slowly but surely over the next month or two.

Each body takes its own time to heal. Your body went through a lot and may need some extra time. Although we do have guidelines and timelines for the healing process, each body is different. Take it easy still and continue to talk to your doctor if you have concerns or questions. 

It is hard to tell but it seems you could have a fluid collection beneath the skin flap or the muscle tightening part failed. Your swelling should mostly be gone at this point. The other issue is that you could have a very thick abdominal flap and that can account for the bulging. This can be liposuctioned down. I would start with a visit to your surgeon to make sure you do not have a fluid collection that needs to be drained.

Hi,The most impressive of your photos are the ones with the side view.  Unfortunately, we don't have a side view from early post op.  There does seem to be a recurrence of the shape that you had preoperatively.  One wonders whether or not the muscle repair might have failed.  As far as swelling is concerned, it is true that all of the swelling has not resolved, but also probably true that you won't see a dramatic change in your shape as the rest of the swelling resolves. It would be helpful at this point to check back with your surgeon and see what he has to say.Good luck, Douglas Hargrave, MD

Hi - at 9 weeks a vast majority of your swelling should have gone.  Your abdomen still looks quite out of proportion swollen compared with your immediate post-operative photo.  There may be an underlying seroma collection.  Go back to see your original plastic surgeon, but if you feel you aren't getting anywhere then see your regular general practitioner to be examined and perhaps have an ultrasound performed.  I'm sure everything will settle down and you'll end up with an excellent result.  Kind regards.

???? ONLY one photo posted... Best response is seroma collection, but not sure. Obtain IN PERSON second opinions... Thanks for posting additional "impressive" photos. Until otherwise ruled out you must consider a large seroma or hematoma. You need a scan or ultra sound to rule out this complication. If you have this than re operation with drainage and insertion of drainage system indicated. Good luck.
