Seroma. How long will this leaking last?

Question

My drains were removed after one week( Drains that were put in my vagina, ewww, three of them, is that common...now I have these gapping holes there, yuck) anyways, after that, an opening appeared and it's been draining. My PS says to let it drain and put guaze there etc. It is two weeks post op today. I am uncomfortable, I cannot have this leaking for who knows how long. What else can I do?

Seromas and leakage can take several weeks to months to totally dry up.  Make sure your plastic surgeon is following you closely.

I've never heard of drains been placed through the vagina so I can't comment on your particular situation. Most the time of drains are used the holes close with a couple of days after removal.

Thank you for your question. Having drains come out the mons area is not uncommon but I am puzzled by having drains through your vagina.  I doubt that you will find many physicians with experience with this, so, you will need to rely on your surgeon with respect to how long the drainage will last.  Be sure to change the gauze frequently.
