Thank you for your question! After having a mommy makeover, it is ok to consume alcohol when you are completely off of all medications. I recommend discussing specific post op questions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!
Thanks for your question. Best person to advice you will be your specific surgeon. Usually patients can start socially drinking two weeks after surgery when they have stopped medication. Best is to follow your surgeon's post op protocol.
Thanks for your question. I would suggest to wait around two weeks when the main part of the recovery is done and you should be off all medications. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively.
You should be fine to drink socially as long as you are not taking any pain medication, but you might want to check with your surgeon who knows you best. Have a fun trip!
Your six weeks recovery period should have elapsed by that time. Moderate drinking should not pose a problem if you are no longer taking pain medications prescribed by your PS. Enjoy the new you!Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
You should follow any post-op guidelines that your doctor outlined as he/she best knows your specific case in depth. Generally, it is best to abstain from alcohol until you have finished taking all the medications that your doctor prescribed. If you have any questions or concerns about your post-op recovery and return to daily activities you should consult your doctor.
Dear Yramir,I understand your concern. It is best that you consult your plastic surgeon regarding post operative care and management (i.e including massage techniques and timing) specific to your case. Your surgeon knows your condition well and has preferences on when and what to use for faster healing and recovery. Post operative care and management depends on the type of surgery performed and the technique used during surgery among other factors. It is best, however, that you follow your plastic surgeon's advice on post operative care management for a smooth and faster healing and recovery.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Yramir I appreciate your concern, however at this stage, you certainly can start drinking socially. It’s usually unwise to drink alcohol immediately after surgery, especially when taking pain medications. I advise my patients that they may drink socially, but responsibly, once they are off all pain medicactions. Also, certain anti-inflammatories can have untoward effects if taken with large amounts of alcohol. Confirm my advice with your board-certified plastic surgeon. Good luck.
Hello dear!!Thanks for the question and provided information as well.It is ok to consume alcohol when you are completely off your medication. If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon.Good luck :)
This is a great question to ask. Mixing alcohol and most types of medication can be a risky move. Since prescription pain medications are usually taken immediately after surgery, it is recommended that you avoid drinking alcohol in any amount during this time period. However, if you are finished taking the medicine prescribed to you post-operatively, you may be able to socially consume alcohol every now and again. Ask your doctor to find out for sure when it is deemed safe for you to have a drink with friends.
I'm sorry to hear of the symptoms you are experiencing. They could be related to the effects of anesthesia, medication you are currently taking, or dehydration. I encourage you to discuss the situation with your surgeon if your symptoms do not improve.
