5 days after breast augmentation and fell.

Question

I was at a friends pool yesterday and I just had my feet in it because I can swim. I then slipped off the edge and hit my left breast off the pool. I had extrem pain under and on the side of my breast. The incision is fine no bleeding or anything and I woke up with mild pain and swelling just a little sore. Should I be concerned?

Thanks for the question.Its early to talk about final results.In my practice, after performing a BA I recommend to my patients to limit the movement of the arms for two weeks. After that, you can move your arms taking care and always with common sense. In this regard, it's not advisable to carry heavy weights to prevent the implant out of position, and allow the formation of the physiological capsule around the implant, also to avoid pain and breast swelling.Kind regards,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol.-

Hello,Given the fact that you have seen only a small amount of swelling you have probably not injured yourself seriously. However, I recommend that you be examined by your Plastic Surgeon to make sure there was no serious damage done.All the best

Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of your fall.  The good news is that you have not witnessed any significant change to your breast appearance.  Likely all remains well.  If your pain does not resolve quickly or if your swelling worsens, see your surgeon for an in-person evaluation but certainly also inform him of the fall in anticipation of your next appointment so that he can ensure your uncomplicated healing.

Most likely you did not suffer a significant injury to your breast and implants.  To be safe it would be recommend to be evaluated by your surgeon if any problems persist.  Good luck.

While it sounds like you lucked out and didn't hurt anything with your fall, there was s no wayvI can tell you that over the internet. I would recommend calling your surgeons office. They may want to see you or because they know yout and your body, they may be content with a picture. Either way, contact  your doctor..  If there is a small hematoma there, it is best addressed sooner than later!

Most like you are OK if the breast did not swell significantly and bruise.  However, there is no way to evaluate what happened inside.  Bleeding into the breast pocket an cause scar capsular contraction, if it is not removed.  Se you surgeon, and he may recommend an ultrasound exam to see if there is fluid (Blood) around the implant inthe pocket.
