Going from flat chested to 600cc implants? (photos)

Question

I'm 26, 5'5, 160lbs and I would like to be a full D after implants. My breasts never really grew, even though I've been pregnant, then overweight (just lost 90lbs in a year!) My boobs were the one thing that always looked the same so I don't know how my skin elasticity is. I actually don't mind the fake look. I'm scheduled for surgery October 6th but I'm worried I won't be able to achieve a full D since I'm starting out with pretty much nothing. Is it possible to go from not even a A, to a D?

Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. 600 ccs is a large increase for one surgery. You may find that the implants have difficulty settling/dropping and you will have to discuss potential issues with healing that you might have. I recommend that you ensure your goals and expectations are realistic for this surgery so that you will not be disappointed. All the best

Your skin envelope does not look like it would accommodate a 600 cc implant.  If it does, it may be very tight and painful at least in the beginning.  It may also not look right for some time as the implant will tend to migrate superiorly with respect to your nipples.  I would suggest a more conservative implant size and then as the skin and soft tissues stretch over 1-2 years, going larger at that point. Best wishes, Dr. T.

One of the first things I learned about breast implant surgery was to avoid an implant that exceeds the ability of the skin to hold.  The problems that come from doing this can be hard to correct.

Thank you for your question and helpful photos.I'm afraid you will be much larger than a D cup with 600cc implants. You will also be at higher risk for complications such as: CC, chronic pain, irreversible soft tissue damage, nipple numbness, skin stretch deformities, malposition of the implant, etc. Please reconsider and seek a second opinion. Implants this large can have detrimental consequences long term. Placing an implant that large on your first augmentation may lead to stretch marks and skin looseness over time. Also a higher rate of capsular contracture. Best of luck

I appreciate your question.

The size of implant best for you is dictated by your
chest wall measurements.  Once we determine that we can choose the profile
based on what you want or need to achieve.  If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smaller than the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wide your breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of the nipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast width will avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with a more artificial appearance. Other than that, you should choose the implant based on volume, not on the dimensions of the implant. You should choose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you in this decision.

Silicone will give you a fullness at the
top (upper pole fullness).

Silicone implants come pre-filled with a
silicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural,
which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; but
they require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if this
type of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annual
follow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquid
silicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak only
into the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfort
or implant distortion.

Anatomic gummy bear implants might be a
good choice to give you volume.

These highly-sought-after, anatomic
implants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of a
breast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking a
natural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, these
implants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorative
or corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, and
reduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of silicone
gel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked;
therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape and
silicone does not leak.

During your breast augmentation
consultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, and
try on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an idea
of how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures of
the look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear when
trying on implant sizers.

The best way to assess and give true
advice would be an in-person exam.

From your photos, it appears that a large implant will give you the look that you desire. Skin elasticity won't be a problem. Some plastic surgeons offer 3-D computer imaging that can show you a simulation, on your own picture, what a certain size of implant will do for you. Best wishes.

Thanks for sharing your photos and question.Based on your photos, you should have a great result from breast augmentation.Although I do not like to talk breast size in "cup" size as cup size varies greatly depending on thebrand and style of bra, you should be able to have full D with implant.Please consult a board-certified plastic surgeon to be examined in-person.  Please review before and after photo gallery and share your desired look with your plastic surgeon.  Based on examination of your body and understanding of your goal, your plastic surgeon should guide you to the right implant size/profile.  Best wishes with your surgery and recovery.

With the limited volume and questionable elasticity of your skin I doubt 600 cc's will fit. Best to consider either 2 stages of surgeries or an expander implant that can be inflated to expand the pockets volume. These options add $$$s to the surgeries.

It is quite possible to go from an A to a D cup. And if you have had that much weight loss you may be able to tolerate a 600 mL implant. The only way to know for sure is to be measured and sized to see if you have enough space to accommodate that implant. I would suggest seeing  A board-certified plastic surgeon in your area who can do a measurement analysis and let you know what size implant you can handle.Good luck!
